Our other deer friends are trying to get all these cool photos before the season changes! Did you know that, unlike horses and sheep, all deer in Iceland are wild? Reindeer were transferred to Iceland under an 18th century royal decree to increase their food supplies after the harsh winters caused by volcanic eruptions. Today, the deer that survived in Reykjanes near the airport, in the mountainous areas, on the Westmanner / Westman islands (!) And in the eastern fjords, are deer from the east.
