The main advantage of this technology is that no cables and wires are required for its use. The closest "ancestor" to Bluetooth is Irda. Unlike Bluetooth, IRDA devices require a special port and they need to be integrated for data transfer. The disadvantage of this infrared port is that it allows data to be transmitted at low speeds.
