Strikes are very important issues in Bangladesh. From the past till today, strikes and strikes have been recognized as a strategy of political, economic and cultural movement of the people. However, at present, the negative impact of strikes has become a cause of concern for the country and the people. Even then, it is only through strikes that it is possible to realize the demands and rights of a large movement.
★Strikes:
The word ‘hartal’ comes from the Gujarati language which when analyzed means ‘har- (every) + tal- (lock)’ meaning lock on every door. The strike is called for the closure of vehicles, hats, shops, offices, courts, etc. It means to hit. Strikes are observed by protesting against any injustice or inconsistency. However, the extent of the strike is greater than the strike. Strikes are usually observed on the basis of various institutional demands. However, strikes are also called for the greater good beyond the boundaries of the organization. And in order to create overall pressure on the government or the concerned authorities to realize the strike demand, through the support of the people in the regional or the whole country, shops, vehicles, educational institutions, mills, offices, courts, etc., all kinds of strike calls and demonstrations.
★History of strikes:
No specific history of strikes is available. It is thought that the first strike in 1826 by Philadelphia construction workers in the United States was to reduce the working hours to ten hours. In addition, the strike by the workers on May 1, 18th, demanding eight hours of work time is still recognized as the great May Day all over the world.
★Significance of strikes:
The production system of capitalist society is based on profit. The class that owns the system of production exploits the workers for the sake of profit. Workers give free labor, increase production but do not get their fair wages. There is no guarantee of action as a result of pruning. Strikes are called when there is extreme dissatisfaction among the workers in this unjust and exploitative system. Now the strike is not limited to the workers. Apart from factories, strikes were observed in various institutions. At present, student strikes, transport strikes, doctors-teachers-lawyers as well as government or non-government organizations are on strike to demand increase in facilities or to demand justice for any injustice. Strike is a democratic right of the people. Therefore, strikes or strikes carry important significance in the realization of rights.
★Strike in Bangladesh:
Strike is one of the main issues in the politics of Bangladesh. Although the strike was started by the workers, it is now a tool of the people's movement. Political parties go on strike expressing distrust in the government. Strikes have occupied a glorious place in the past history of Bangladesh. Strikes played an effective role in the movement for the state language Bengali in 1952, the six-point movement in 1966, the mass uprising against dictatorship in 1969, the great liberation war in 1971 and the post-independence movements. However, strikes are important political weapons of different parties in Bangladesh at present. Frequent strikes create panic in the lives of the people. Because, when strikes are called for the interests of the party without considering the interests of the people, it becomes a cause of loss for the country. The anti-culture of intolerance is the root cause of the abuse of strikes in Bangladesh politics. Therefore, everyone in the country needs to be aware to truly protect the essence of the strike.
★Harmful aspects of strikes:
Despite being a tool of moral movement, strikes do not always bring good results due to selfish politics. The current strikes in Bangladesh have created subversive activities and created panic. The bombing the day before the strike seemed to be a foretaste of destruction. During the strike, vandalism of vehicles and shops, arson, chases, harassment of journalists, mass arrests, loss of life of helpless people, etc. are obstacles to the future development of this country. The strike disrupted the treatment of patients in hospitals, disrupted educational activities, increased the suffering of day laborers, caused severe economic losses, eroded people's confidence in politics and created reluctance. Illegal strikes make people disgusted and it gives rise to new threats to the welfare of the country.
In a changing world, it is natural that the type of movement will also change. Yet those who abuse it, regardless of the essence of the strike, must keep in mind that politics and political programs are for the welfare of the people. The ruling class also needs to strive to uphold the rights of the people. Only then will it be possible to build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh. Bangladesh, which was formed through movement and struggle, will get the happiness of true independence.
Strike is the main point for the politics of Bangladesh. Its so much helpful for political leaders. They do it for do their work goodly. Good article
