Corruption is the most terrible disease of society. At present, corruption is being considered as a serious social crisis and problem all over the world. Every level of society and state, every organ institution is a victim of corruption today. Corruption is determined to defile a society and push it towards disaster. In that 1857 we lost our freedom due to Mir Jafar's corruption and treachery. Today, after so many years, the mountain of corruption we have built is again hiding the benefits of our independence. So, being independent people of an independent country, we are sinking into the abyss of hunger, poverty, despair and social crisis due to our own corruption.

What is corruption:

Corruption in general is an act against any policy. Corruption is when a person abandons his justice, ideals and values, disobeys the law and does anything. Corruption is the act of abandoning one's policy for the sake of one's personal or collective interest. According to the World Bank, "corruption is the misuse of government power for personal gain or for the benefit of a group."

The nature of corruption:

We can see the nature or type of corruption from three angles. First, the corruption of those in power. Second is the corruption of government officials or employees. Third is private corruption. There is a proverb - ‘He who goes to Lanka, becomes Ravana.’ That is, he who abuses power abuses that power. The people in power can control everyone with their fists. They have authority over everyone. So they can do corruption without any hindrance. They do not have to answer to anyone. On the other hand, those government officials and employees also commit corruption through abuse of power. Kautilya, a writer of ancient economics, says that just as there is no one who tastes honey / poison at the tip of the tongue, so there is no one who does not embezzle government funds. Apart from the corruption of the people in power and government officials, all the corruption is private corruption. These corruptions occur among the common people on a personal level. Such as land in someone's place, embezzling money, cheating, etc.

Causes of Corruption:

Corruption occurs when the social and economic institutions of a country and society are weak, when there is a lack of ethics among the people. In society, power is concentrated in the hands of a particular individual or group and even if they have the sole power to make decisions, there is corruption. Corruption occurs when there is a lack of accountability in the society and when the salaries of those engaged in state work or any other general work are not adequate. When the country's governance, law and judiciary are weak and there is no transparency, people are corrupt. Again, in a society where there is no independent media, there is no active civil society, there is a lot of corruption. Corruption also occurs in the absence of proper and effective enforcement of anti-corruption laws. Besides, poverty and economic insecurity are also one of the causes of corruption.

Corruption in social life:

Totalitarian corruption has now entered every level of society. So today it is often seen that a child grows up with the money of his parents' corruption. Then he was admitted to a school. Maybe even there he has to fall into the corruption of bribery behind donations. Then he passed the public examination. Very good results due to the leaked question paper. Admission to a university may be done in the same way. Maybe he gets involved in corruption with the teachers or office workers in the university in the hope of getting good marks or any additional benefits. Then he entered his career. Maybe in exchange for a large bribe. In the cycle of corruption in which he grew up in a culture of corruption, corruption became permanent in his life. He was established as a corrupt official. Once upon a time he was in politics. Under the guise of serving the country, he then embezzled people's money and seized government resources. As a result, it is seen that people are becoming accustomed and accustomed to corruption in every step of state life starting from family life.

Corruption is as ancient as its roots in society. Corruption has always been an obstacle to our national development. Just as corruption has upset the backbone of our economy, it has also tarnished our image as the most corrupt country in the world. And so now is the time to speak out against corruption.
