Like many other countries, we have Anti-Corruption Law and Anti-Corruption Commission. The 'Prevention of Corruption Act 1947' and the 'Prevention of Corruption Act-1956' are prevalent in our country for the prevention of corruption. The first law was enacted to prevent anyone from engaging in corruption. It also has provisions for punishment for corruption. The next law calls for the identification and punishment of the corrupt on the basis of investigation. The Anti-Corruption Commission was formed in 2004 under the Anti-Corruption Act 2003. In 2006, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) was restructured.

Areas of Corruption in Bangladesh:

Areas of Corruption in Bangladesh are-

1. Earth Social Project.

2. Government revenue collection sector.

3. Government and non-government financial institutions.

4. Government service organizations.

5. Education sector.

6. Land survey and land administration.

7. Public administration.

8. Police administration etc.

Response to Corruption:

Corruption is always negative for society. Corruption hinders the overall development and growth of society. As a result, our national progress is hampered. As a result of corruption, money and wealth are accumulated in the hands of opportunistic and harmful people of the society. As a result, power and authority passed into their hands due to the influence of money. In doing so, they abuse their power to control the economy and development of the society and use it to their advantage. As a result of corruption, mountains of black money were formed in the country. Which adversely affects the existing economy. Corrupt people loot the country's wealth and smuggle it abroad. Corruption hinders local and international investment in the country. As a result the production system is disrupted. This reduces the supply of goods and increases the price of goods. The purchasing power of the common man decreases. Corruption makes the country poorer. Upset the socio-economic system of the country.

Ways to prevent corruption:

In order to continue the development of the country and society, corruption must be strictly suppressed. And for this we have to take some effective steps. Such as -

1. We need to bring transparency in the administration, judiciary and law.

2. Monopoly power must be removed from society.

3. The exclusive right to make decisions alone must be reduced.

4. Rules and regulations and anti-corruption laws need to be strictly enforced and amended if necessary.

5. The anti-corruption commission needs to be strengthened and allowed to function independently.

6. The judiciary needs to be simplified so that cases are settled quickly and the corrupt are punished.

7. Those who are engaged in state and other work should be provided with good salary.

8. There should be practice of Right to Information Act for the people.

9. Civil society and the media need to be strong.

A concerted effort is needed to eradicate corruption from society forever. We need to create a national movement against corruption. And consciously we have to ensure the participation of people from all walks of life. Only then will we be able to prevent corruption.
