Reasons for reciting Attahiyatu in prayers:

Attahiyatu is actually a very important prayer. My heart has really softened after knowing the story behind this prayer!

Attahiyatu is, in fact, a part of our Prophet's (pbuh) conversation with Allah. Which has happened during the journey of our Huzur Kareem (R) Israel Miraj with Allah Almighty! When the Prophet (pbuh) started the conversation with Allah, he did not say Allahu alaykum!

So what did he say ,,, ??

Because, we can't say to Allah Almighty, may Allah send peace upon you! Because, Allah Himself is the only source of all peace and mercy in the world!

The Prophet (pbuh) said to Allah:

Attahiya-tu lilla-hi wash chalawa - tu wat tbaiyiba-tu

Meaning: All honor, all worship and all holy things are for Allah.

Allah the Almighty said:

Assala-mu'alayaka ayuhannabiyu wa rahmatullah-hi wa-barakatuhu.

Meaning: O Prophet, may peace be upon you and may the blessings and prosperity of Allah be revealed.

The Prophet (pbuh) said:

Assala-mu-alayna wa ala ibadilla-hichchalehin.

Meaning: May Allah's prosperity and peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah.

Upon hearing this conversation between Allah and His Messenger, the angels said:

Ashhadu al la-ilaha illallahu wa ashhaduanna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu.

Meaning: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad (pbuh) is His servant and Messenger.

"Subhanallah".

Now that you and I have learned the importance of Attahiyatu and the history behind it, think for a moment, if other people know this writing through you, they too will understand the importance of this prayer!
