Millennials, and Evolution of Technology

What is a technology and how it has gone so deep into our lives? It is not a matter of a day or two but for decades, slowly and slowly from one form to the other, from one invention to another it has dug its way into our lives and you know what the irony is the process is still in progress. Each and everything seems the same until after some time when we look back everything has changed.  This what has happened to our generation the Generation ‘Y’ or so-called “The Millennials” (People born in or after 1984).

We are the ones who have seen this huge transformation in the field of technology which has a significant impact on our lives. The people before us (Generation X) have not that much access to technology or it will not be wrong to say that technology at that time had a very limited purpose and was in the hands of people who are really significant, perhaps it was expensive and not everyone can be offered that or it was a new dimension and majority was ready to accept it. We are the ones who have seen from the very slow dialup internet connectivity to the wireless connectivity (wifi) with 100 times the speed of a dialup connection.

Millenials witnessing the birth of Social Media

We are the ones who have created this third dimension of media which is now called “Social Media”. It is the most significant one on which you can waste your hours, days, weeks, months, years, or even your lives. This social media and internet combo deal can have countless benefits, but the curse attached to it is so huge that undermines all its benefits. So many things have been viral on social media which have led to the point where people can’t suffer more degradation for themselves and have finally chosen the path to end their lives. To be fair enough, I am not talking about the lives of people of developing countries where it is said that they haven’t handled the technology well, the American society is the most affected because of this curse, especially their youth or “The Millennials”. Social media and the internet, a combo of destruction take 4400 lives per year, as per CDC. I don’t want to be a hurdle in the growth of technology but at the cost of human lives, NEVER.

Conclusion

Technology has taken us to the modern era of e-commerce and e-banking, as I have mentioned that it has numerous benefits as well but the thing is it should be a regulated platform and many rules are needed to be made for its working, to minimize the social and moral problems it is creating for society.
