Life Providers
The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and
perfection of human beings” once Masanobu Fukuoka said. For decades and eras,
agriculture has been related with the production of essential food crops. At present,
agriculture above and beyond farming includes forestry, dairy, fruit cultivation,
poultry, beekeeping, mushroom, arbitrary, and others. For today, processing,
marketing, and distribution of crops and products, and other ways are known as part
of existing system in agriculture. It plays a critical role in the entire life of a given
economy. It is the backbone of the economic system of our country. In addition to
providing food, agriculture also provides employment opportunities to a very large
percentage of the population. So, how do we recognize agriculture today? Are we
aware of efforts and hardships the agriculturists and farmers exerts for this? How can
we help them?
In the poster of Ferds Medina stating that no matter how modern we become,
without them (farmers), there is no food, I reflected myself as one of them having
simple life and business in mountainous area with farm. Nature and resources are
given, all we have to do is to develop, innovate and give importance to it. Most people’s
main source of livelihood is farming and about 70% of people depend directly on
agriculture as a living. Since agriculture now, employs many people and farmers, it
contributes to the development of our economic status. As a result, the national and
people’s standard of living is improved.
In today’s system of generation, we live with technology and opened our eyes
with modern type of living in which everyone is dependent to processed food and
others. But we cannot deny that agriculture is still the one source of our livelihood and
other needs. We buy foods in department stores, even if its frost and undergone
preservation, it has the same and only one source which are farms. Our dear farmers who take risk of taking care our resources now are still workers with the higher
possibility of living on their own without depending with the technology. Now, that we
have technology equipment and machines, it can help them to produce products in an
accelerated way. Giving the chance of growing the business on their own. But still,
without the farmers, we cannot live even if the advanced and enhance technology
comes, farmers are the greatest mans in the world. According to B. C. Forbes, "It is
only the farmer who faithfully plants seeds in the Spring, who reaps a harvest in the
Autumn." Yes, I agree. But we can also farmers by ourselves. We can help them, try
to cultivate and not just depend to farmers. Give yourself a hand that will lift your
motivation to work and find way of living through a simple planting of seeds to your
background. Enrich them, let them grow and live with satisfaction and pride that you
are part of the farmers who shares for economic growth not just around the country
but to your homes and family.
Even though how modern the world is, still, we cannot live without farmers. We
cannot live without agriculture. In the statement of Thomas Jefferson that says,
"Agriculture is our wisest pursuit, because it will in the end contribute most to real
wealth, good morals & happiness," I can say that no matter how advances the life with technology, still, we depend on agriculture.
