The effects of a difficult custody dispute on Hayden Panettiere's 7-year-old daughter Kaya were discussed on the episode of "Red Table Talk" airing on Wednesday.

Kaya resides in Europe with Panettiere's ex-husband Vladimir Klitschko. The "Heroes" actress revealed to the hosts Jada Pinkett Smith and Adrienne Banfield Norris, as well as their guest co-host Kelly Osbourne, that she has been there since Klitschko filed for full custody in Ukraine in the midst of Panettiere's efforts to treat her alcoholism in 2018.

Although Panettiere visits her daughter whenever she can, she said that Kaya was suffering worrying effects as a result of her absence.

At roughly the 27-minute mark of the episode, she remarked, "I also recall her dad contacting me and he said, 'Kaya's going around and asking other ladies if she can call them mama.'" "My heart stopped, and I had trouble breathing. He was laughing because he found this to be amusing."

This knowledge, according to the "Nashville" star, was "horrifying." She claimed that she didn't believe Klitschko saw Kaya's actions the same way she did. She remarked, "That's a trauma reaction, and it's a scream for help."

When Panettiere brought up the subject with Kaya, she allegedly "went into 'goo-goo gaga' speak" and started "talking gibberish," which was something Panettiere had never observed before.

The actor claimed that she had attempted to convince Klitschko that she needed to be more involved in Kaya's upbringing and that Kaya's infrequent contact with her mother was a "trauma" that would "raise its ugly head" as she grew older. Panettiere, however, asserted that she does not feel that Klitschko is aware of or accepts that, and that she is concerned that Kaya may eventually get angry or depressed as a result of her absence.

Kaya's living circumstances haven't changed recently, according to Panettiere, but she has faith that as Kaya gets older, her wishes will be more respected and she'll be allowed to travel to see her mother in the US.

Klitschko and his family are well-known in Ukraine; he is a former professional boxer, and his brother, Vitali Klitschko, is the mayor of Kyiv. Earlier in the chat, Panettiere claimed that she hadn't completely disclosed her custody issue because it had been "quite terrifying to talk about."

Speaking with the hosts of "Red Table Talk," Panettiere claimed that Klitschko occasionally misunderstands the physiological impact that emotions can have on the body because he is a man without many female influences.

When Kaya was a baby and she experienced postpartum depression, she claimed that Klitschko "truly thought I was doing it on myself."

She said, "I was going to work on myself and I was going to get better. But as soon as Kaya got to Ukraine, it was 'I want complete custody of her,' which shocked me.
