I'm writing this mainly because it has recently surfaced and I have to admit, music is a good inspiration to write beautiful articles, good stories, and even do things better in art, studies, and even video games. So, for this short post, I'll try to explain how good influence a genre was to my current mood. Sort of a review.
Sea shanties! They're the sailor's song to keep spirits uplifted. Most of the common ones are from the 19th Century. They went and go with pirate and sailing films. They are still alive, however, and a well-known one is The Longest Johns. They made good music.
Some of the most popular depictions are in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, and there's some original songs littered around movies like Pirates of the Caribbean.
For real, it's a nice tuning. The one I'd like most is the Longest Johns depictions of Randy Dandy-O and Drunken Sailor, the Jolly Rangers' The Flying Dutchman, and almost all versions of Santiana and Wellerman.
Well, I'd better show you an example of nice sailor music.
In honesty, if it weren't for Sea of Thieves, a pirate game, and the Longest Johns showing videos of them playing it while singing shanties, I would've not minded this at all. It shows a great history between our sailor ancestors and how hard things were unlike today. It's inspiring. If they were able to keep their spirits up without any access to at the Internet or means of entertainment, we should be able to as well.
