Nepali marriage is not less than any festival which comes once in lifetime especially in bride home where the preparation starts months before the weeding. As very famous dialog says not only two people share their life together but two families comes under the term in Nepali marriage. A weeding is not so easy in our culture, many parents saves and even sell their property only to give a wild big party to whole village, but this is another topic to write. Today i am sharing the happy moment of nepali weeding and the most important day for bride a day before the marriage.
Just a day before marriage there is a culture of wearing a yellow ateir and putting the turmeric paste in body and face by bride family and friends. It may sound weird but it is believed that doing this bride will be safe from all the evil power that may harm her. As we know turmeric powder have high anti oxidant property, so scientifically our culture is also following science but with traditional values, and all these ritual is called "Haldi". After this bride will also go throw another ritual where she will put a paint in her hand and this paint is made from certain plant which have cultural value in our society and this ritual is called "Mehendi". It is believed that the deeper the paint comes in bride hand the age of groom will increase and this rituals are followed by almost every hindi community in Nepal.
Earlier, i mention that nepali weeding is like festival because there are many process until the day come, after Haldi and Mehendi some special and cultural dishes are made in both side and almost each and every relatives will come together to bless the couple next day and also there are some other ritulas done by bride father and brothers. As bride is leaving her parents home she will also be leaving their last name and home god and accepting grooms last name and his home god. While this will be another topic for next day.
