Vietnam

Vietnam is one of the names in the history of global liberation war. Within hours of Japan's surrender in World War II in August 1945, Ho Chi Minh, the undisputed leader of the Vietnamese Revolution, declared independence from French occupation. France began talks with North Vietnam. In 1946, a French warship bombed the town of Haifong in northern Vietnam.

It killed thousands of people. Negotiations broke out as the Vietnamese counter-attacked and the First Indo-China War began. For eight long years, China supported Vietnam and the American French in this war. In 1954, French forces were defeated at Dien Bien Phu on the northwestern border. Vietnam is divided into two parts, North and South. Military rule was established in North Vietnam under the leadership of Ho Chi Minh. The communists, on the other hand, established a subordinate government of Western powers in South Vietnam the United States appeared.

In the early sixties, communist guerrilla warfare began against the US-backed rulers of South Vietnam. The U.S. military is directly involved in the fighting. U.S. warplanes continue to bomb North Vietnam, wreaking havoc on towns and villages. On March 16, 1968, U.S. troops killed countless women, children, and the elderly in the villages of Mailai and Sona Mai.

The war ended with the fall of US forces in the capital, Saigon. After the victory, the two Vietnams came together and started their journey as independent countries. In this war, about 11 lakh people lost their lives and more than 6 lakh people were injured.
