They plan to introduce robots in Ukrainian courts. They will be entrusted with the consideration of simple cases, reports the agency "RBC-Ukraine".

Reportedly, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the High Council of Justice of the country (SCJ) are working on the implementation of a project to introduce artificial intelligence into the judicial system of Ukraine.

According to the newspaper, a pilot project will be launched in one of the district courts in 2022. It is expected that the robot, instead of a judge, will be able to consider and make decisions not on all cases, but only on simple ones, for example, about speeding, violation of parking rules, etc.

As the deputy chairman of the SCJ Oleksiy Malovatskiy told the agency, the courts must be provided with adequate funding, in particular, the Internet should work in all Ukrainian courts.

The chairman of the Rada's legal committee, Andriy Kostin, also pointed out that lawyers have long been using special automated programs to analyze documents in their work. It is noted that artificial intelligence has been introduced into the work of the judicial systems of the United States and China. In addition, the European Commission in 2018 even adopted the Ethical Charter on its use in the judicial systems.

“The main thing within the framework of the pilot project is to fix what negative consequences could be, then carry out the appropriate work, adjust the algorithms,” Kostin told the agency.

He also expressed confidence that it will be necessary to pass legislation, as well as a number of by-laws in order for the artificial intelligence system to be applied.
