Why did Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah order the death of Gopal Bhar and why did Gopal Bhar have to leave Krishnanagar?

History forgets history, history is lost in history. It is difficult to find a Bengali in the world who has not heard the name of the comedian Gopal Bhar. Recognize Gopal Bhar through cartoons promoted by Sony Art or gossip heard by the elderly. Again, one can get an accurate history of his existence and know about his fame and fortune.

He was a member of the court of King Krishnachandra of Krishnanagar (a historical place affiliated to West Bengal). Gopal was everyone's favorite person at that time as he was a very funny person. He was a poet. He has a poem called Milansagar. He won the hearts of everyone in the palace by showing cunning and wit. In short, the wise Gopal was a treasure trove of entertainment for the people of Krishnachandra's palace and Krishnanagar. But despite being such a dear person, he did not have a place in this Bengali.

Salta was 1857. The young Nawab Siraj was then the Nawab of Bengal Presidency (Bangladesh and West Bengal), Bihar and Orissa. Then Mir Zafar, Ghaseti Begum, Jagat Seth, Roy Durlav, Umichandra were engaged in a mischievous attempt to dethrone the Nawab. They each made conditional contracts with English merchants for the sake of their own vested interests. It was at this time that King Krishnachandra of Krishnanagar joined this vicious circle against the Nawab. Although all the members of Krishnachandra's court supported his joining, only one person did not. And that person is Gopal Bhar.

Gopal began to explain to Krishnachandra. He went against the Nawab of his country and refused to help the English. He said, "The English will come out with a needle and an ax. If they do something against their self-interest, they will not hesitate to crucify you, forgetting all your benefits." After all, Gopal repeatedly requested Krishnachandra not to defeat the Bengali mother.

But Krishnachandra did not listen to his words but started mocking Gopal with his courtiers. Krishnachandra conditioned Gopal, "Gopal, if you can come to the Nawab with a frown, I will refrain from such a decision."

Gopal took leave of Krishnachandra's royal court and rushed towards Murshidabad. But the guards of the Nawab's Hirajhil Palace (now in the riverbed) did not allow him to enter at all. Unable to find a way, Gopal bit one of the guards. As a result, the palace guard grabbed Gopal and went to the Nawab. On hearing all this, the Nawab said, "Who are you? Where are you from? What do I need?"

Gopal said nothing and frowned at the Nawab.

Nawab thought, what's the matter ??

Gopal nodded again.

Nawab arrested Gopal. He said, "You will be judged tomorrow."

Meanwhile Gopal said to Mir Jafar, "I have come to expose all your conspiracies. But I will not say anything. Because if this conspiracy is exposed, Krishnachandra will also be trapped. Nawab will remove him and put someone else in power. I do not want Krishnachandra to lose his power. The giver of food, the giver of food ".

Mir Jafar was shocked to hear such words. He informed the Nawab that Gopal had called him Satan. He should be hanged as soon as possible.

Gopal was hanged the next morning. But there was no change in Gopal. As soon as Nawab looked at Gopal's face, Gopal frowned again. This time the Nawab went after the thought. The Nawab thought, 'I see so much madness. It would not be right to hang a madman. ' The Nawab called Kabiraj and said, "See if he is mad."

Kabiraj ruled, this is an insanity.

Nawab released Gopal.

Patriot Gopal returned to Krishna Nagar. When he found out that Krishnachandra had decided, Atal Gopal decided not to go to Krishnachandra's meeting. Gopal also decided that he would not stay in this Krishnanagar anymore. Gopal Bhar left the state with his family in the dark of night without saying anything to anyone with a very distressed mind. Since then, the ever-smiling Gopal Bhar has not been seen in Bengal.

Later, the traitorous and oppressive king Krishnachandra and the unfaithful Mir Jafar became slaves licking the feet of the English.
