The Bangladesh Coast Guard is a paramilitary force under the Department of Public Security, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. After the independence of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Navy was responsible for the defense of the seas. The force was formed in 1995 with the motto "Guardian of the Sea" after the Coast Guard Act "1994 was passed in the great National Assembly".

Its headquarters is located at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital. These forces are working to implement Sunil Economy or Blue Economy. The main responsibilities of this force are to ensure security in the vast seas of the country, protection of water resources and control of law and order in the waters, prevention of drug and water smuggling, prevention of smuggling, prevention of pirates, prevention of illegal fishing. However, during the war, this force will provide assistance to the Bangladesh Navy.

In this force, Bangladesh Navy is carrying out the activities of the force with sailors and officers who come on deputation or deputation. However, the process of recruiting its own manpower is underway. However, the force appoints some of its own internal posts. On the other hand, the officers of Bangladesh Border Guard are recruited from the Bangladesh Army but the sepoys of the force are recruited through their own process. It is to be noted that no Marine Corps or Marine Corps has been formed in Bangladesh so far.

The force currently has more than 3,300 coast guards and 57 ships. However, the name of the ship of this force is preceded by CGS or Coast Guard Ship. This force uses rank batch of Bangladesh Navy.

It is to be noted that more than 90% of the total trade of Bangladesh is imported and exported by sea. According to international law, up to 12 nautical miles from the coast is the territorial sea area and up to 200 nautical miles is the exclusive economic zone or EEZ. 1 nautical mile is equal to 1.752 kilometers.

The title of the chief of this force is the Director General. Rear Admiral M Ashraful Haque is currently in charge.

The whole of Bangladesh has been divided into four regions under the control of the organization. Eastern region- Chittagong, western region- Bagerhat, southern region- Bhola, northern region- Dhaka. There is also a Coast Guard base in Patuakhali.
