The official languages of the country are Pashto and beard. Nationality Afghan or Afghan. Ethnicity is 42% Pashtun, 26% Tajik, Hazara, Uzbek, Belgian.
The capital and largest city is Kabul. There are also Kandahar, Jalalabad, Herat, Ghazni, Mazar Sharif.
Governance Unitary President Islamic Republic. The current president is Ashraf Ghani. He is the head of state and government at the same time. There is also a First Vice President, a Second Vice President and a Chief Executive Officer.
The legislature is called Mili Surah in the local language. The upper chamber is called the House of Elders and the lower chamber is called the House of the People.
The country has a population of 3.22 crore and an area of 8.52 lakh sq km.
The poorest country has an annual per capita income of only 600 and the currency is the Afghani. It is one of the most corrupt countries in the world.
The 1980s saw a nine-year Soviet-Afghan war. The war was won by the Afghan Taliban Mujahideen. The Mujahideen were supported in this war by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United States, the United Kingdom, China and West Germany. The country witnessed two civil wars in the 1990s. Later, in 1996, the Taliban took control of most of the country and formed a government and introduced Islamic law. Then, after the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States in 2001, the United States turned the arrow of suspicion on Afghanistan and invaded Afghanistan, overthrowing the Taliban government. Although many parts of the country are now under Taliban control. The Taliban and the US government recently signed a peace deal.
The Taliban is a Sunni Islamic political movement and military organization aimed at establishing the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Their ideals are Deobandi, Pastoli and religious nationalism.
The country has the Wakan Corridor, which connects the border with China.
The last king of Afghanistan was Mohammad Zahir Shah.
