CashRain Officially Goes Live
The much anticipated Bitcoin Cash powered platform CashRain has officially gone live today, according to a Tweet by creator Kim Dotcom:
What is CashRain?
CashRain is a platform for content creators and influencers created by Kim Dotcom. Users can create communities, their fans join the communities on CashRain, and the creators can reward their followers by "raining" pre-determined amounts of Bitcoin Cash on them. Essentially, it is a marketing platform that creators & influencers can use to reward their fans for doing things such as liking a post/video, re-tweeting, or following. Users on the CashRain platform must link their Twitter, Discord, or YouTube accounts in order for the aforementioned activities to be verified.
How Can I Join CashRain?
You've got it! I'm not sure if it's still necessary but I needed a referral code to join the CashRain Beta. If you're interested in trying it out, here is an invite link. It may only be open to a certain number of registrants, so apologies in advance if it doesn't work.
My Experience with CashRain
I have not tried the platform from the creator/influencer side (I may be a creator but I am far from an influencer). From the "fan" side, I have used it for about a week now and received 17,188 BCH satoshis from about half a dozen "rains." They are consistently posted, and there's always new ones to join.
The one drawback, which is just a nitpick on my part, is that you can only use a Bitcoin.com crypto wallet. It's not necessarily a bad wallet, but it's not my preferred wallet. It would have been easier if you were free to link any Bitcoin Cash wallet address of your choosing. But I understand that there is probably some kind of agreement between CashRain and Bitcoin.com that requires them to only accept their wallets. That's really my biggest gripe with the platform I've encountered.
Other than that, it seems like a novel project with a real-world utility. The timing of the launch, coming just a week after BCH being announced as a tradeable token on EDX Markets, couldn't have been better. It's certainly gaining some traction on Twitter with users sharing their winnings:
You can check out CashRain and judge for yourself. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
