President Trump's last-minute suspension of an attack on Iran - where was the plan to hit him? What exactly caused the suspension? Could Iran have retaliated? If possible, where would the injury be?

The news is, Mr. Trump himself has sent a message to Iran offering to negotiate. That message was delivered t Tehran via Oman.

What would happen if the US invaded?

Let's face it - Trump didn't change his mind at the last minute. In that case, US forces would be limited in their ability to strike.

Some Iranian radar or missile installations might have been attacked, and some diplomatic warnings would have been added.

However, do not forget that President Trump also said on Saturday that "there is still a possibility of military action against Iran."

There is no possibility of a full-scale US ground operation to overthrow the Iranian regime, although some in the White House want something like that.

The reason for this is that Iran is a much more complex challenge, both militarily and politically. They are not Saddam Hussein's Iraq.

Iran's counter-attack

Iran would then have retaliated - perhaps a US ship or aircraft.

In addition, mines, small boats, or submarines attacked the Gulf of Iran to disrupt the movement of ships or oil tankers.

Remember that the American drone that was shot down by Iran - it is very high technology and very expensive.

But no matter how advanced the US intelligence system may be, it has its weaknesses. Iran may be thinking that if they can sink a few US warships - then Mr. Trump may think that there is no need to fight at such a high price.

What would happen if the United States hit back?

Remember - this war will be unequal, meaning one side is very strong, the other side is relatively weak.

In response to the Iranian attack, the Americans could strike Iranian naval installations, air bases - with aircraft or cruise missiles

They could destroy Iran's air defenses, inflicting heavy casualties on the Iranian military.

But what Iran can do is do some damage to America that will turn American public opinion against this war.

What will happen if the conflict spreads to the whole region?

Under pressure, Iran could escalate the conflict. Its proxy countries such as Iraq, Syria or others may call on the US to strike at targets.

It could even be a rocket attack on Israel by Hezbollah or Iranian troops stationed in Syria.

The goal will be to show Washington that even a small blow to Iran could spread the flames of war throughout the Middle East.

From the experience of Afghanistan and Iraq, the United States may have realized that in modern times no war can be 'won' in the conventional sense. Iran also certainly does not think they can 'lose' the United States in the war.

In fact, both sides want a 'strategic' victory.

The United States wants to "contain" Iran so that it does not exceed a certain limit. It is possible to achieve this goal by reducing his military power. Although this could have the opposite effect, public support for Iran's current regime could increase.

Iran, on the other hand, may be seeking to destabilize the Trump administration by creating a military crisis - so that Mr. Trump's chances of winning can be reduced.

As a result, if the Democrats come to power in the future, they may be able to ease economic sanctions, including a new nuclear deal.

But Iran's problem is that they do not have much time. Mr. Trump may not have that problem.

But a war with Iran would be costly, and it would be difficult to predict what the outcome would be. Maybe it won't stop Iran's nuclear program, it won't diminish their growing influence in the Middle East.

One is that the overthrow of Saddam Hussein in Iraq has resulted in an increase in Iran's influence in the Middle East.
