The rulers of thousands of years ago are coming down the streets of Egypt again. But not in blood and flesh, but in mummy. This time there will be a procession with 22 mummies on the streets of Cairo. And it costs millions of dollars.
According to the BBC, a total of 17 mummies of kings and four queens will take part in the procession. The habitat of these mummies has been changing for so long. The new museum has been built 5 km away. These 22 mummies will be taken there. And that is why the procession has to be done.
According to the concerned, strict security measures have been taken on the occasion of this procession of mummies. In Egypt, these mummies are considered a national treasure. It is said that the mummies of the rulers will be taken in the procession according to the order of the reign. The new museum is called the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
Among the mummies is the mummy of King Ramses II. Organizers say the general public will be more interested in the mummy of Ramses II. This king ruled for about 6 years.
According to the BBC, each mummy will be taken to a decorated vehicle. Special measures will be taken to prevent the mummies from shaking during the journey. More cars will be around the mummy-carrying vehicles. There will be replicas of horse-drawn chariots.Salima Ikram, a professor of Egyptology at the American University in Cairo, said the ministry had taken all possible steps in this regard. These mummies were discovered between 181 and 1896.
