The highest temperature record in Death Valley, California, USA.

The highest temperature recorded in the world so far is the Death Valley National Park in California, USA. The temperature at a place in the park on Sunday was recorded at 54.4 degrees Celsius (130 degrees Fahrenheit).

The U.S. National Weather Service confirmed the temperature.

Temperatures are forecast to rise further this week as a heat wave continues across the west coast of the United States.

The area has been without power for two days as a power plant in California broke down due to intense heat waves.

"It's scorching hot here," said Brandi Stewart, a Death Valley National Park worker.

Ms. Stuart has been working in this national park for five years with occasional breaks. He spent most of the month of August indoors.

'' When you walk outside, it feels as if your face is being heated with a hairdryer. You will feel the heat and it will feel as if you are walking through an oven and spreading heat all around, ”he says.

A 'firenado' was seen in California on Saturday as temperatures rose

What are the previous records?

Sunday's temperature was recorded at Furnace Cricket in Death Valley National Park.

A 'firenado' was seen in California on Saturday as temperatures rose. It is a tornado of fire that often forms between dry and intense heat waves.

Earlier, the latest reliable record of the highest temperature in the world was also in this Death Valley, in 2013. It was recorded at 54 degrees Celsius.

The highest temperature on Earth, a record 58.6 degrees Celsius, was recorded almost a hundred years ago - also in this Death Valley - although that information is disputed. Many modern-day meteorologists think that the data, like some other records of that summer, is incorrect.

A 2016 review by meteorologist Christopher Burt found that Death Valley temperature readings in 1913 did not match other records in the region.

The highest temperature in the world was recorded in 1931 in Tunisia. But Mr. Marter says there are questions about the reliability of this information, as in other parts of Africa during the colonial period.
