Vidyashiksha does not mean literacy and reading books. Rather, education is that which teaches one to enjoy life by beautiful-orderly and joyful wisdom, which awakens human values in man and turns him into an elegant tasteful person; That which awakens self-knowledge, self-knowledge, sense of kinship in man and that which transforms man into a free-spirited person free from discipline and reform. The main purpose of education is to awaken the subtle instincts of human beings, to create good sense in human beings, to create a sense of justice and injustice and to make human beings as human beings.
But where is the mindset of our education system and education today? Ethics, values, the instinct to be gentle - above all, instead of being human beings, we are too busy today to get experimental results.
Gurudev said, "Acquire knowledge, practice knowledge, cultivate human values and good instincts - as a result you will get excellence in worldly life." But we sat down with all the advice of the lower caste guru and gave importance only to the result. As a result, the real result of our education became angry and the plan fell away. And we began to be educated; But I could not be a real human being. That is why beating classmates to death, bidding and extorting money, taking bribes, trying to achieve success with bribes, becoming the owner of wealth by corruption-fraud-deception and considering wealth as the content of arrogance, the desire to be good at any cost. The mind has become a trend.
In order to achieve a goal, one has to set certain goals and be aware of the purpose. Otherwise, there is a possibility of suicide due to misdirection. Similar comments about our education and education system are noteworthy. Every year in our country more than twenty six lakh students take part in JSC exams, about twenty one lakh students take SSC exams and about thirteen lakh students take HSC exams. Are all these students and their parents aware of the real purpose of education? Or are they just passing exams or producing good results and making the expectation of a good job for life and livelihood the only goal of education? If so, there is considerable concern here.
Like other creations, man is the creation of the Creator, but he has to build something of himself. That is, even if the physical form of man is created by the Creator, his mental state has to be created by himself. The main task of education is to rebuild this mental consciousness of the people. Education that cannot transform the world of human consciousness can never achieve its true purpose. Education can help people to make a living; It can bring economic prosperity to life - but its real job is to build people's mental consciousness. Students, teachers, parents and all those related to the education system need to set the main goal of education with this aspect in mind.
Life never goes straight. The main religion of human life is to deal with various obstacles and obstacles. And in order to deal with this unfavorable situation, first of all, self-confidence and self-reliance are needed. Because dependency almost exhausts a person's ability to stand up straight. Therefore, it is necessary to awaken the sense of self-confidence and self-reliance in the students through education. Students need to be aware of self-awareness. That is, one should be aware of one's needs, habits, likes and dislikes, latent desires, goals and objectives, etc. The more a student learns about himself, the more he can change his life.
Able to improve one's thoughts and body. On the other hand, a person's ability to deal with obstacles depends on his character traits. A positive morale is enough to deal with thousands of obstacles. So students need to practice building this positive morale. Remember, failure does not mean stopping in life, but failure is the key to success. Success becomes blissful only when people can taste failure. There can be success or failure in any step of life; But it is important to remember that hard work is the key to success. This is life. Not only sound education but his alertness and dedication too are most required. He has to take every exam in his life with a focus on how to move forward in life through hard work and success and failure.
As a social being, every person has some responsibilities and duties towards the society. A sense of responsibility towards the society should be awakened in the students through education. You should not be preoccupied with self-interest and selfish desires. Moreover, man has a special responsibility towards nature as a part of world nature. Students need to be aware of nature knowledge. One must learn to love nature and take care of nature.
Then let's talk about moral values. In fact, due to morality and values, human beings have been able to break the bonds of animality and become human beings. We need to focus on these ethics and values in our education system. Because all our efforts will ultimately fail if we do not develop our students as human beings with moral values. Morality creates a sense of good and evil in students. It builds knowledge of honesty and discipline in them and teaches them to apply it in real life. Ethics influences student behavior and helps to make the right decisions during difficult times in life. Although our textbooks contain various moral teachings; But those are not enough. Because moral education is a matter of conduct. Students need to make it a habit through the combined efforts of teachers-students and parents.
Education awakens the latent talents of the people. Judgment-analysis enhances rational thinking ability. Students should be aware of this reasoning, intellect, judgment and analysis while receiving education. Remember, one of the goals of education is to find logical answers to innumerable questions of the mind. So students have to ask questions about the world, life and creation. The type of questioning must be learned and efforts to find logical answers by reasoning, intellect, judgment-analysis must be continued. In this case, you should not be afraid or stop. The wise thinkers never stop asking questions. Because they know that this is the best way to acquire and practice knowledge.
Now let's come to the words of the teachers. It is said that in the realm of knowledge, education is subject. Vidyadan and Vidyarjan is a mental process where a kind of mutual understanding between student-teacher is active. The philosopher Socrates compared the role of the teacher in teaching to that of the midwife, saying that just as a midwife helps a pregnant mother to give birth to a child, so a teacher helps a student to read. In other words, a student will teach himself, the teacher will only help him in that teaching.
In this case the teacher will set such an ideal by teaching as well as by his speech, manners, rational judgment-analysis and moral qualities; Which will be followed in front of the students. In this regard, Mahatma Gandhi said, "The life of a teacher is like an open book in front of the students." So teachers have to take this teaching profession with sincerity. No matter how scholarly a teacher may be, if he is not sincere in the classroom, all his efforts will fail.
Teachers must love the teaching profession. Due to the surrounding conditions, our current education system may not have a teacher like Matuknath in Bibhutibhushan's novel 'Aranyaka', who will teach the disciples selflessly, loving the teaching profession from the bottom of his heart and overcoming all misery and hardship; But there is a great need for a teacher who loves the teaching profession and the students from the bottom of his heart. There is a group of teachers who just interpret the text in front of the students, the second level teachers present new information and theories in addition to the text-interpretation; But a great teacher inspires students.
A great teacher will gain knowledge about the ever-new subject of the changed world and will create interest among the students in that subject. The main goal of the teacher is to create interest in the students. A great teacher will lead the students in every field of acquiring knowledge. Moreover, teachers need to have some moral ideals and values which are established in the society as an example to be followed. In this case Derozio, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Dr. Anisuzzaman, Dr. Examples of innumerable teachers including Sirajul Islam Chowdhury, Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed can be given; But teachers are human beings. The society and the state have to consider its social status and economic security. Because it will not be possible to build an ideologically educated nation with moral values with a fragile teacher society.
