Last month, several people were killed in a militant attack in the northern Mozambique town of Palma. The attack killed seven people trapped in a local hotel.Separatists have been active in northern Mozambique since 2016. Clashes often occur in that area. More than two and a half thousand people have died in these conflicts since 2016. And about seven lakh people have become refugees. There are allegations that militants affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) are largely responsible for these clashes.
