You can think, talking - what else! But keep in mind, just speaking nicely can take your career to unique heights. With a teacher, when presenting a business or any innovative idea, even intelligent talk in the corporate world can make your goal a lot easier. According to the Harvard Business Review, those who speak fluently in their careers, their success comes quickly. Talking again is also an art. The quality of fluent speaking can be mastered through practice. Saif Noman Khan, Assistant Professor and Business Communication Specialist at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dhaka University, explains how to practice speaking fluently.
1. Learn to express body and facial expressions
Learn to speak with a smile and focus on body language. When speaking, keep an eye on where you place your hands, how much you bend your neck, or how much you use your eyebrows. Learn to speak eye to eye. It is disrespectful and rude to talk without looking at the person you are talking to. Take time to correct your body language while standing in front of the mirror. Try it for five weeks straight, you will see the change in yourself.
2. Learn to avoid regional tensions
Try to avoid your regionalism to speak Bengali fluently in any university or professional job. There may be problems in the beginning, but regionalism must be avoided. If you give six-seven weeks in a row, you will be able to reduce the regional tension. When speaking English, clearly follow the British or American pronunciation. Realize for yourself when, how, and how much break you need to take.
3. Understand and understand the listener
Try to bring harmony between the mouth and the brain while speaking. Arrange what you will say before you start talking, write it down on a piece of paper if necessary. Pay attention to whether the person you are talking to understands. More important than what you say is what your audience hears or understands. You have to have confidence in your words. Try to understand the listener by looking at the expression on the face and body.
4. Be tactful in speaking
In front of a lot of people, you have to be very tactful while standing on the stage and talking. Look into the eyes of the audience. You may have to change your script depending on their response, be prepared for that. If you want to know if you are talking too fast, first record your own words on your mobile phone. Practice again and again.
When speaking, you must arrange the speech. Make at least one table. Arrange what you will say in the first minute, what you will discuss in the second minute and how you will end the speech.
5. Presenting thesis or research: Avoid complex sentences and negative words
Those who talk neatly are actually talking too much work in too few words. Do not use complex sentences when speaking. Never try to express vocabulary or knowledge in words. Try to speak in simple and simple words and sentences. Be careful not to use negative words or phrases in the name of others. The use of negative sentences actually reveals one's own weakness. If you want to criticize, do it logically. Introduce intelligence.
6 . Not the problem, say the solution
Suppose you take an elevator with an investor. You get a chance to talk to him in private for thirty seconds. How do you come up with an idea in this short space of time? Effectively presenting an idea in 20-30 seconds is called 'elevator pitch'. In these cases, the problem is not, say the solution. Find out in advance what the audience is interested in, and build your speech that way. ‘I could explain if I had a little more time,’ don’t keep this attitude.
7 . Follow others, learn
Check out videos from Ted's Harvard Business Review or Bloomberg Business Magazine to learn the art of speaking fluently. Teachers from various universities, including Harvard University, give live video lectures, watch them. From the video, learn to speak like them, use sentences and use words. You can follow whoever you want to be in your career.
8 . If you want to read
Those who speak beautifully, but they study a lot in their personal life. There is no alternative to reading. Fiction, non-fiction — read all kinds of books. When you read different types of books, you accumulate knowledge and information on various subjects, so it is easy to master the art of arranging while talking. Before you start talking about any meeting or public speaking, start with the permission of the listener or the person you are talking to. Speak using accurate information to capture the attention of the audience. Remember, it is not right to repeat what the listener knows.
9. Practice all
The art of speaking beautifully in a hurry is not mastered. Give yourself four to five months to change. This investment will be useful for life. Make mistakes while learning, keep learning. Find out what's wrong with you from adults at home or friends at university. Focus on correcting mistakes without being offended by people's sarcasm. Speak clearly.
10. Take the course online
There are opportunities to do talking courses on various websites including Coursera, Udemi, Future Learn. You can learn how to speak beautifully from each course of three to seven weeks.
