The whole world is waiting for an effective and safe vaccine for coronavirus

Three vaccines developed by Globe Biotech, a Bangladeshi company, have been included in the World Health Organization's list of vaccine pre-clinical candidates.

The World Health Organization (WHO) also said that the landscape document was created to provide information on the novel coronavirus epidemic. This listing does not imply that any particular product is approved by the World Health Organization.

The World Health Organization's Landscape Document lists a total of 42 vaccines in the list of clinical evaluations and 158 in the list of pre-clinical evaluations.

Three vaccines developed by Globe Biotech Limited of Bangladesh have been included in the list of pre-clinical evaluations. These are DNA plasmid vaccine, Adenovirus Type 5 Vector, D614G variant LNP-encapsulated mRNA.

They started inventing this vaccine on March 7.

The development of the D614G variant LNP-encapsulated mRNA vaccine is at the forefront, the company said.

How did it start?

Since the introduction of Covid-19 in Bangladesh, Globe Biotech has been working to develop a vaccine for the disease.

Scientists at Globe Biotech discovered a special type of mutation by analyzing the genome sequences that existed internationally at the time. This mutation is D614G.

The number of mutations was very low at the time, said Globe Biotech CEO. Kakon Nag.

Why so many rumors and conspiracy theories are circulating about the coronavirus vaccine

At the time, he said, they realized that this genome mutation would have serious consequences in the future. Then they decided to work on it.

"At the time, no one really imagined that this strain would dominate the world," he said.

According to Globe Biotech, D614G is currently 10 times more contagious than any other strain in the world and no one has yet developed a vaccine candidate against it.

At what stage?

Among the three vaccine candidates, the most advanced in terms of development is the LNP-based D614G variant LNP-encapsulated mRNA candidate. Basically, its pre-clinical trial has already ended. It is currently being included in the clinical trial phase.

The pre-clinical trial of a candidate for the vaccine has been successfully completed, says Globe Biotok.

Globe Biotech Quality and Regulatory Operations Manager. Mohammad Mohiuddin said the pre-clinical trial of one of the three candidates for the vaccine has been successfully completed. Preparations for the clinical trial are now underway.

A memorandum of understanding was signed with ICDDRB on October 14. They will conduct this clinical trial.

ICDDRB is currently working on Protocol Development Review.

He said they have some arrangements of their own that they are working to follow.

Mr. Mohiuddin said the ICDDRB would expeditiously submit an application to the Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC).

The other two strains are still in the pre-clinical trial phase.

What other steps are left?

There are several stages in the development of a vaccine. The D614G variant LNP-encapsulated mRNA candidate has already gone through six steps. It is now in the seventh step.

This step is the clinical or human trial. There are again three steps in this clinical trial. In many places there are four steps.

Globe Biotech CEO. Kakon Nag said that this Total Human Trial is pending.

Apart from this, the work of vaccine development has already been completed.

"It remains to be seen whether the human body will develop a defense against the Covid-19 virus and whether it has any side effects in the human body."

Mr. Nag said the vaccine has already been tested in animals and has yielded very promising and good results. As a result of which he is actually going to the human trial, he said.

"The data that we have now is very hopeful that it will give very good results in the human body as well," he said.

When will you come?

According to Globe Biotech, the clinical trial of the vaccine is expected to be completed within five to six months.

But Globe Biotech says management and approval matters are not in their hands.

There are separate authorities for these matters. Officials at Globe Biotech said the vaccine would be available within six months if they approved it as soon as possible.

How far will this vaccine go?

Mr. Nag said the D614G vaccine is currently undergoing a first-stage clinical trial. Globe Biotech Limited said it plans to go beyond the rest of the steps and make the vaccine available to everyone.

The agency says several countries have already expressed interest in trying out the vaccine they have developed.
