Several Republican leaders also applied the 25th Amendment to Mr. Trump has spoken of removal. One of them is Adam Kinzinger, a Congressman from Illinois.
The 25th Amendment to the Constitution provides for the transfer of power to the Vice President if the President is deemed incompetent or incapable of performing his duties.
In a statement, Chuck Schumer said the incident happened at the instigation of the president, so it is not right for him to remain in office for another day.
He said Vice President Mike Pence should now implement the 25th Amendment.
