Feather And Stone - Two: Strong -Greece, 390 A.D.- Today was the selection for new students. Any child under the age of fifteen that had the guts was coming to Sophianos’ small complex to bid for a spot among his pupils for up to a decade of training in various skills. He made selections every seven years or so, accepting up to five disciples at a time. Sometimes he accepted more if that cycle’s batch was particularly talented, less if they weren’t. Many of the prospective disciples were the sons of important military leaders, great artists or writers, or government officials. Unfortunately, many of these bright, advantaged boys assumed that, as with most everything else, they could use their status to win a place in Sophianos’ little school. They were wrong. Sophianos selected students on merit. Any who tried to bribe him or use their father’s status as a reason to accept them, were immediately thrown out. Over time, word had gotten out about this, so very rarely did Sophianos encounter such arrogance anymore. That suited Sophianos very well, though he would never admit that he took great pleasure in putting the little brats in their place. As someone who had grown up in the worst of conditions, looked down on by boys just like those he now taught, Sophianos enjoyed knocking them down a peg. Not in a harsh way, of course, he wasn’t cruel, and they were just children who had the misfortune of having arrogant parents. But seeing their confused faces as he refused their bribes or boasting, instead requiring them to compose a poem or execute a difficult sword maneuver to be his student, was undeniably satisfying. The government had awarded Sophianos a full courtyard in which to live and teach disciples. Aside from his own rooms, there was a training field, a classroom, and a small dormitory for the students. Few other mentors were given such space or respect. Of course, other mentors were nowhere near as good at molding mediocre youths into exceptional adults as Sophianos. Fourteen boys stood in a line in the complex’s training field. Sophianos observed them calmly, silently waiting for the first one to get tired of the silence and break. The boys ranged in age. The youngest was barely nine, the oldest pushing fifteen. Their clothing was generally uniform, each wearing just a standard tunic made of light material to withstand the summer heat; however, it was easy to tell which boys came from affluent families and which didn’t. Those with tunics of higher quality material, not frayed or tatty, looking bright as if it had been made that day and not washed hundreds of times, those were the rich ones. The others, with faded cloth tunics, sporting small tears, made of cheap fabric, were the poor ones. Some were confident, staring straight ahead, heads held high. Others fixed their gazes to their feet and kept them there. There were more looking away than looking at Sophianos. Sophianos was used to that. He had a reputation for being strict. He had become more of a legendary figure than a real, living person to many of these boys. The stories passed around about him were ninety percent untrue, but a hundred percent intimidating. Many took a single fact about him or something he’d done and turned it into a complete fable, making a Herculean tale out of a trip to the market. For example, Sophianos had once helped a small beggar child buy medicine for his sickly mother, even going so far as to send a doctor over to tend to her. Somehow this became known to the general public and now the story had become a heroic tale of Sophianos single handedly saving the mother and child from the maw of a vicious beast using his superior sword skills. The young mother was accidentally poisoned by the beast’s venom, and according to the story, Sophianos had cobbled together a cure from plants in the woods, carrying her and her child in his humongous, muscled arms back to safety. Sophianos had no idea why people were so keen to embellish something so small. But what was inconvenient about this strange hero worship was that it set up a lot of expectations in his students’ minds. Most assumed he was as tall and thick as a tree, in his forties, and strong enough to crush boulders with just two of his fingers. If only. Sophianos was actually only twenty-three, he had a slender, lightly muscled build, and though skilled in the sword, he certainly wasn’t strong enough to go around crushing boulders. This was sometimes a source of disappointment for students who had been expecting a wolf and received a kitten with particularly sharp claws. As Sophianos paced back and forth in front of his potential students, he could tell that some of them were experiencing this disappointment. A handful of them kept sneaking glances at him, evaluating his build and comparing it with the image in their heads. He could tell that those few were reconsidering their decision to come today because of it but stayed if only because of Sophianos’ reputation. Sophianos examined each student in turn, silently cataloguing a wealth of information despite the fact that none of them had introduced themselves or demonstrated any skill. As he came to the end of the line, however, Sophianos’ mouth twitched in surprise. Well. At least there was one ballsy student in the bunch. A spindly boy, with black eyes that dominated his small face, perhaps ten years old, was staring right at him. It wasn’t a stare focused off in the distance, either. This boy tracked Sophianos’ movements diligently, and when Sophianos looked at him, the boy met his gaze, perking up like a little dog called to attention. Sophianos suppressed an amused snort. He walked toward the brave boy, startling all the other students with his sudden movement. The boy who’d been watching him stiffened, mouth tightening, as if he expected to be disciplined for his insolence. But Sophianos just stopped in front of him, hands clasped behind his back. “You. What’s your name?” The boy shuddered slightly at the sound of Sophianos’ voice. “A-Alexei.” “Hmm,” Sophianos hummed. His voice was pleasantly deep and calming. “And how old are you, Alexei?” “Thirteen.” Thirteen? Sophianos thought with a slight frown. He looks too small for thirteen. Malnourished, probably. “Why are you here today, Alexei?” Some of the boys farther away, snickered, assuming Sophianos was ridiculing Alexei for even bothering to come to the selection when he was so scrawny, so weak. Sophianos hadn’t meant that at all, of course. He was simply curious. This question was also one of his little tests. Those that answered that they wanted to get a good job were kicked out immediately. Those that said their parents had forced them to come were kicked out too. Those that came because they wanted to become famous were brutally removed as well. The young boy, Alexei, didn’t seem to hear the other boys’ snickering. He lowered his head in respect, hands twisting together nervously as he answered in a small voice. “I want – I want to be strong.” “Why do you want to be strong?” Alexei froze for a minute, not expecting a follow up question. The boy’s gaze slowly slid up from Sophianos’ toes, up the length of his body and finally to his patient expression. Perhaps the heat was getting to the boy, because his cheeks suddenly showed a slight flush through his olive complexion. “Because you’re strong. I want to be stronger than you,” Alexei said. Immediately after the words left his lips, his expression showed a trace of panic, jaw clenching as he awaited a reprimanding slap, or angry shouting for him to leave. Dead silence fell over the training field. He wasn’t expecting laughter. He was expecting a hand ruffling his hair even less. He peeked up hesitantly, only to be greeted with a genuine smile. Alexei stared blankly. “Alright,” Sophianos said. “Let’s make you strong.”

Feather And Stone - One: Wild Sophianos knew he didn't have much time left. He was currently camping out in a dense, humid forest in South Carolina. The tent he’d recently had to buy to replace his last one – ripped to pieces along with all of his clothes save what was already on him – smelled of cheap plastic. But it kept out the rain and most of the bigger bugs, so he was content, if a little cold. He hadn’t had enough money to buy more clothes, or more blankets, so he laid fully clothed, curled up on the tarp bottom of the tent, trying to ignore the lumps under him of tree roots, pinecones, and rocks. He was as content as he could be knowing that he would only be able to rest for an hour, two at most, before he was found again. And Sophianos would really like to keep this tent intact, so he had to be awake with enough time to put it away before – A great crash broke the song of crickets and frogs in the night. There was creaking, the sound of splintering wood, and then the impact of something heavy crashing to the forest floor. It was unmistakably the sound of a tree falling. Anyone else might think someone was out cutting wood, even if it was the middle of the night. Or they might think it had simply rotted through and fallen on its own. Sophianos knew better. He bolted up and got to work, unzipping the tent and pulling out the pegs at corners with lightning speed. The sound of another tree falling came again, closer this time. Fuck. He was pissed. Not that that was anything knew. That man was always angry. And he never caught Sophianos long enough to vent that anger. But most of the time, he was sneakier. Sophianos usually didn’t get this much warning, which told Sophianos that he better get the hell out of dodge before it was him that was ripped to pieces this time instead of his clothes. However, thanks to that warning, Sophianos was able to pack up the tent, sling it on his back, and high tail it before two more trees were felled. Perhaps he would blend into a nearby city for today. It was harder for him to find Sophianos in urban spaces. There were more places to hide, more people to cover him in a crowd. He wouldn’t be able to afford a hotel room, and someone would call the police if he were to set up his tent in public. But it was fine. He could occupy himself with something for a day. The nearest city wasn’t very large. Half rural, surrounded by fields, but it had an industrial district that brought in a more urban feel, and a larger population. Sophianos walked the streets, sticking to dark corners and alleys, ignoring the strange looks he was getting as morning rolled around. He was used to those looks. He hadn’t shaved in a few days, his last shower was two days ago, his clothes were worn, and he was carrying a tent on his back. He looked homeless, and the longer he went without food and sleep, the more deranged he seemed. He had long stopped minding the looks. Minding the many discomforts he had to deal with. A long time ago – a very long time ago – life was different. It was comfortable. Luxurious, even. He had once been a scholar. A teacher. Students fought each for the honor of being under his tutelage. Families paid exorbitant prices – bribes – to get a spot, but Sophianos never took money. He chose his students based on aptitude, potential. The regional government paid his wages. He had no need for money. He was a kind teacher. Generous and magnanimous. He held equal regard for all his students, gave them the instruction they would need to achieve high military or government positions, regardless of their family background. There was only one student he’d wronged in his entire career. It was a grievous enough betrayal that his student had killed him for it. Hunted him for thousands of years for it. Sophianos had killed him first, so fair was fair. Except his student ensured he would come back just like he had. Anyone else seeking revenge would probably torture him until they were satisfied and kill him. Wipe their hands clean of him. Killing him was revenge. Bringing him back was obsession. When Sophianos’ reminiscing faded, he found himself standing in front of a bakery, staring blankly at the breads and sweets on display, every mouthful of slightly chilled morning air filled with the fresh scent of dough. Sophianos’ stomach clenched around nothing, but he had enough experience with starvation that it made no noise. He blinked hard and turned reluctantly to go. He had only a few dollars with him. Not enough to buy anything more than a croissant, which would be heaven in the moment, but he would regret wasting his money on it an hour later when his stomach started protesting again. The door to the bakery opened as he was forcing himself to leave, sending out a fresh wave of tantalizing scents. He swallowed hard but started walking faster. No need to torture himself like this. However, a voice called out to him before he could go too far. He looked over his shoulder. It was an older woman, perhaps in her early fifties. She was the one who’d come out of the bakery. “Excuse me, sir!” she called. Sophianos nodded to her. She held out a brown paper bag. “For you.” Sophianos hurriedly shook his head. “No, I can’t afford – ” “It’s been paid for, dear. A nice young man inside saw you drooling over the display. Come on, take it.” Sophianos took the bag, peeking in the shop window again, trying to see who had been so generous, but beyond the display it was too dark to see more than shapes. He thought briefly about going in to thank the kind person, but he backed out in the end, simply nodding at the woman and walking away, hands clenching so tightly around the warm bag that it nearly tore under his fingers. Once he was a couple blocks away, he found a small park that was still relatively empty. Only a few people walking dogs or jogging populated the clean pathways. He sat on a bench, finally feeling slightly dizzy, and opened the bag to enjoy the pity meal he’d gotten. There were certain benefits to looking so disheveled. He knew that. It wasn’t his first time getting food or money from people. He had even begged before. Perhaps a thousand years ago he would have been embarrassed, even outraged to receive handouts. Now he was just glad to get a meal. He opened the bag and froze. A minute tremble started in his fingertips. Perhaps it was a cosmic accident that the nice man who’d taken pity on him somehow picked out all his favorite items. Perhaps Sophianos had been unconsciously eying them in the display and he had picked up on it. Two croissants. A jelly donut, powdered. A small, soft baguette. He hadn’t had these kinds of foods when he was alive. They hadn’t existed. These were things he’d grown to like over his time running. They were his favorites. There was even a point in his life where he’d managed to take up a part time job in a bakery in France. That was one of the longest times he’d been able to live peacefully without being found. Sophianos was still staring into the bag, paused in time, knowing he needed to run, too dizzy to get to his feet. Then Sophianos noticed the hands. Two hands appeared on either side of him, gripping the back of the bench. He could see them out of the corners of his eyes, could feel hot breath on the top of his head. As he watched, those hands clenched down, veins popping up angrily. The bench screamed, metal bending like putty. He didn’t say anything. He didn’t have to. Sophianos knew what he wanted.

Learn even during pandemic We're still facing a pandemic and battling with COVID-19, and we can still see students having difficulty in adjusting to distance learning. From the very start of the school year, most students are really complaining so much and seem to give up without thinking much about what they can get in completing the modules. As a student, I can't deny the fact that it 's hard to understand and answer the modules without explanation by the teachers even there's someone in the family that can help, so how much more for those who have no one to help them?. It's indeed hard to adjust for what we used to, but if we focus on the brighter side, we will appreciate more the benefits that this kind of learning brings. Instead of complaining, why don't we focus on the real purpose of completing modules? Yes, its hard to complete the activities within short period of time but it's like a training for us. We can use time management to pass it on time. We can ask for someone's help for topics that we don't understand. At some point, this kind of learning is such a challenge for us students. Complaints can't help us even just a little bit, they will just make us more lazy to answer. If we can't really pass all activities, then at least we can say that we've done our very best and we learned something. In times like these, we need to continue learning, and answering modules is one of the instruments. While we are answering, there's something that will eventually fill our minds and strengthen our knowledge. There's no such thing to regret, because it gives us more benefits. If you think that answering modules is just a hurdle for you, then you just really take it for granted and submit the modules just for "compliance sake". Good students take it as an opportunity to learn, that's why they keep on progressing. This kind of learning is really good and we'll actually see this when the normal classes will start again. If there will be so much activities to pass on a short period of time, they will be much easier for us to accomplish them. As a student, i prefer face-to-face classes than distance learning, because I can access more information and richer understanding on the topics and lessons through the help of the teachers. I can also concentrate more on learning in school because there's less distraction than at home. However, we're not yet over with COVID-19 that's why we're using distance learning. It's really hard to adjust to this type of learning but there are also good benefits that can be an advantage for students. In distance learning, we can study in a place in which we feel most comfortable, and we are able to discover and build up skills in associating with technology. It also offers variety of learning styles and techniques, the delivery methods are different and somehow interesting. It also offers more quality time with our family and we can also help in doing household chores. Our parents don't also need to provide travel expenses. However, the workload in distance learning is far intense than face-to-face classes, so it requires more self-direction and discipline in order to get the activities completed on time. After all these upsides, there are also some disadvantages in distance learning and those who don't have enough equipment and someone to guide them are the most affected. In distance learning, it 's hard to understand and answer the modules without explanation by the teachers as well as engaging with online classes. It's hard to adjust for what we used to, but we need to accept the new normal. We must also at least be happy that the advantages that this kind of learning brings weigh more than the downsides. Students nowadays are slowly getting used from a traditional classroom to an online learning environment. However, face-to-face class which is the "tradional" way of learning is undeniably effective. We get instant answers to our questions as well as other concerns and creating a support with other students, and the teachers. We can easily gain knowledge from socialization with fellow student and interaction with teachers. Face to face learning is also very effective in terms of discovering talents and improving skills by the help of different extracurricular activities and organizations inside and outside the school. It often combines different ways of learning including discussions, writing, group presentations and projects, demonstration and practice that are a big help in molding students. In face-to-face classes we also have greater chance of completing the activities successfully by doing it a classroom as well as the opportunity to interact with different kind of students, problem solving and be a leader of other students from a wide range of backgrounds. Face-to-face and distance learning are both effective instruments to learn. Though they have some downsides, they really give lots of benefits to students like greater knowledge, different skills and many more. They require a great amount of work and have variety of instructional techniques. They also have a big impact on the future of every student. Whether it's a face-to-face class or distance learning, what matters most is we learned something.

You are Beautiful Yes, you are beautiful not because you have a perfect skin, nice body ,beautiful face but because of your good attitude, characteristics and personality. Your outer appearance doesn't define who you really are. Beauty’s not the first glance you sneak in the hallway. It’s the unknown that lies within. It’s our inner beauty which is reflected in our soul. It leads to a positive and shining life. If we feel good about ourselves, we can boost our self-confidence and lead ourselves towards self-development. Genuine Beauty is the way in which you treat others with care. Beauty is your compassion. Being able to put yourself in somebody else’s shoes, even if you don’t like them. Having the option to imagine another person's perspective, regardless of whether you don't care for them. Beauty is having the courage to defend something you're confident of, regardless of whether you are the just one standing. Numerous individuals nowadays think that what you see on a superficial level is the thing that you'll discover underneath. This supposition is the thing that makes individuals consider less themselves or to be narcissistic. Consider the possibility that you pass up someone stunning in light of the fact that they aren't connecting with when you first look. We must start acknowledging our inward characteristics that are obviously better than facial attractiveness.Instead of offering inclination to what we look like with our skin shading, state of our eyebrows, eyes, nose or lips, we concentrate to improve our character as far as internal excellence – which is the genuine magnificence – excellence of the heart that sparkles inside us.It gives us perceptual experience and delight and fulfillment motivating us to perform great deeds and activities. Our lives are too short to even think about examining what an individual is wearing and how terrible they might be. Beauty runs further than the skin, further than a flat stomach, further than newly painted finger nails, and more profound than flawless bends. You can't see excellence and you never will, unless you've walked in their shoes before and look deeper than just the surface.

Love conquers all Love overcomes everything. Love over guidelines some other feelings particularly dread. A few people are reluctant to be infatuated for they would prefer not to get injured. Others dread to enter in a relationship for they had terrible involvement with it previously. A few people are terrified to be enamored for they dread that sometime he/she may wind up being separated from everyone else once more. Yet, despite every one of those apprehensions, they despite everything decided to be infatuated and be seeing someone face the outcomes with the one they love. Love vanquishes everything. Like when you are enamored and that individual loves you don't back anything, else matters to you. You couldn't care less of others' opinion of that individual you love. Love overcomes everything, similar to religion and races. A few people wouldn't fret regardless of whether their loved ones have distinctive religion from his/her own religion. Others don't care at all regardless of whether the individual he/she adores originates from the opposite side of the world. Love overcomes everything, in the event that you love somebody enough, you can manage any issues that may come up. Love vanquishes everything. It vanquishes obstructions that may come up seeing someone. The individuals include will successfully make their relationship work even now and again when it appears to be sad. Love vanquishes everything, since you will do insane things for the one that you love. You will do a thing that you didn't do previously. Love overcomes everything since when the individual you love hurt you, you despite everything pardon him/her. Love overcomes everything in light of the fact that more often than not we become hopelessly enamored at an inappropriate spot and at an inappropriate time however we despite everything decide to proceed with it. That is the reason I can say that adoration is madness. Love is madness since you will do all that just to make the individual you love glad, regardless of whether it's without wanting to. Love is madness since certain individuals will in general slaughter individuals for affection. However, by the day's end, now and again love doesn't vanquish everything. Why? It is on the grounds that numerous individuals are as yet scared of being enamored, particularly those individuals who had been harmed so numerous times....

Your Future Matters the Most There are so many things that needs to be accomplished in school. There is this student that is good both academic and extracurricular activities, and she always manage to balance her time and still active inside the class. Unfortunately, there’s one time that she didn’t really have enough time to review well for their exam. Before they start, her friend told her that one of their classmates have a copy of the exam that they will be taking. She became speechless because of disappointment. While they are taking the exam, she hardly answer some of the questions and the result of it was quiet bad for her. Most of the class got almost a perfect score and she only got half of it. Her friend again spoke to her, “if you only low down your pride and take a review of the copy that I told you, maybe you got a perfect score”. The student smiled kindly and responded, “if you only go to school to learn and not to have high scores you will surely become successful someday. Scores and grades don’t matter to me, my future matters the most”

Brighter side, Better Future There are so many times that we're trying our best just to beg for someone's attention, we show so much efforts, spend a lot time but in the end, it was just wasted and ignored. Minsan, mapapaisip ka nalang, do i really have worth in this world? Thinking all of your efforts and time wasted and turned out to be just nothing. Sometimes, i even planned to give up already but i just ended up begging for their attention once again kase REALTALK, its so hard to let go the ones that makes us HAPPY, its really funny knowing that i really became used to it and cant even figure out how to enjoy life. Again and again and again, the same thing happens, me being desperate and eager just for their attention was ignored and never been important for them. Til one day i realized it all, "HINDI HINIHINGI AT IPINAGPIPILITAN ANG TUNAY NA HALAGA AT PAGMAMAHAL, KUSA ITONG IBINIBIGAY AT PINAPADAMA NG MGA TOTOONG NAGMAMAHAL. Naging bobo ako at tanga sa mga bagay na alam kong kailanman d ako bibigyang halaga, their attention and time that i was eager to have is just enough for me to become contended and happy but i gave up because we should let go the ones that make us hurt and give us pain for us to find the real happiness and value our worth. Now, i am very happy with what i've become after letting go of them. SEEN and IGNORED messages, not valued and unappreciated worth will never happen if we will become wise and see the bright side of our life. In this world the true key to know our worth and find our own happiness is to live our life to the fullest, no worries, no stress, just LOVE YOURSELF.

BS in ESPORTS: College Course na? “Enemy reaches the battle field, smash them, All troops deployed, first blood,” Ilan sa mga katagang lagi nating naririnig sa larong mobile legends.
