There was a king in one country. The king had three daughters. So, one day a strange question came to the king's mind. The king wants to verify how much his daughters love him. Talk about rubbing salt in my wounds - d'oh! Only kings agree with strange thoughts. So the three princesses were brought before the king.

The king asked the girls how they loved him. The eldest daughter said, "Your Majesty, I love you like sugar." Then it's the girl's turn. He said he loved the king like honey. But the king's favorite little girl tied the knot. When the little girl said, "Sir, I love you like salt", the king was furious.

Then the little princess said to the king, "Many foods can be eaten without honey or sugar, but no food can be eaten without salt."

At last the king realized his mistake and also realized that the youngest of his daughters was the most intelligent. And since then, the word "love like salt" has become popular.

It is thought that salt was still in use in the world about 6,000 years ago. A book on the use of salt in Chinese medicine was published in 2,800 BC, discussing about forty types of salt and two types of salt production methods. According to The Archeology of China, commercial salt production began in China during the reign of the Shang dynasty around 1600 AD.

I know this tale a bit different but for a rewrite it is good enough. No matter how people put it we need salt to live and everything does taste way better with it.
