Citizenship is the status of a person as a legitimate member of a sovereign state or nation. A person can have more than one citizenship.

If a person does not have the citizenship of any country, he can be called stateless.

When someone is located at the border of the state and no clear idea about his citizenship is found, he is called a border-lander.

Each country has its own policies, rules and standards by which a person can be declared a citizen.

A person can be called a citizen on the basis of a few things or he can be given citizenship.

Usually a person becomes a citizen of a country directly by birth, and other matters need to be applied for.

There are various types of rules to gain citizenship for various countries. One of them is by birth.

How can a man gain citizenship by birth?

It differs country by country. Basically If one or both of a person's parents are citizens of a country, then that person may have the right to be a citizen of that country.

Previously it was considered only from the father's point of view, but as a result of twentieth century gender equality it now applies to everyone.

Citizenship is granted on the basis of one's ancestry or ethnic identity. This is related to the concept of nation-state in Europe.

If a person has blood relationship, if his parents have the citizenship of a country and if he was born outside that country, then he will also be considered a citizen.

Some countries (United States, Canada, United Kingdom) have restricted this citizenship right to a few generations.

Some countries (Germany, Ireland) only grant citizenship to those who register each generation with the Foreign Office within a specified period of time.
