How many people struggle to survive. Some fight against hunger, some fight to survive better, and some fight just to catch their breath.
Today I will tell you the story of such a fight.
The boy's name is Mehedi. But in the friends' circle, in his department or in the varsity, everyone knows him as Tanin Mehedi. The boy lives in Comilla, a old district town of Bangladesh.
As well as he is an undergraduate student of Mass Communication and Journalism Department, Comilla University.
There is always a sweet smile on the corner of his lips. But he is hiding a difficult battle to survive behind the smile.
Mehedi's first battle began at a very young age, when his parents separated. Since then, Mehedi's fight has become more difficult.
Mehdi entered the war for the second time in 2016. In the middle of this year, he found out that he had cancer in his leg.
At least Six lakh taka (almost 7.5 thousands dollar) is required for treatment. But for him who's life struggles with tuition, this money is like a death blow!
Where will he get so much money? Will the boy who has been struggling since childhood lose? No, Mehedi did not lose.
In fact, the teachers and students of his department the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Comilla University, Bangladesh did not get him to lose.
The department was still new in the university, with only 150 students in three batches and only three teachers.
They fought the battle to save Mehedi with this limited but inexhaustible power.
Students of other departments of Comilla University joined their struggle. Beneficiaries of the journalism department from outside the university joined.
The urge to save Mehedi reached beyond the borders of the country and abroad. Help keeps coming.
Besides, the fighter boys and girls of the journalism department collected money for Mehedi's treatment day and night, sun and rain.
He was sent to India With everyone's prayers, Mehedi recovered and returned to campus, with a smile on the corner of his lips. However, due to knee surgery, he has to walk slowly.
But does it stop the flow of life?
Mehedi comes to the department, sometimes runs around the campus with a tripod for assignment work. Chatting with seniors, chatting with friends over tea.
But whose sorrow is written on the forehead, why sew his happiness?
Just a few days ago, this cheerful boy found out that the cancer had not been removed from his body. Rather, he came back with more energy this time. Attacked directly from the knees to the lungs.
Fight began again. Mehedi is the only fighter in this difficult battle.
However, the teachers and students of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Comilla University are in this fight with him.
Because the team believes a song which sang a famous singer Vupen Hazarika many years ago:
"People are for people, Life is for life. Can't people get a little sympathy? O dear friend! People are for people, Life is for life. Can't people get a little sympathy? O dear friend! People are for people."
So they are already starting to raise funds for Mehedi despite the Corona epidemic.
Everyone we hope Mehedi will back by the grace of Almighty God. He will come back healthy.
After that he comes out sometimes with a pen and paper, sometimes with a camera or tripod, looking for big-minded people like those people who tries to put a smile on someone's face, to build a beautiful society where only remains love and love in everywhere.
As Philanthropist Mother Theresa said that it is not possible for all of us to do great things. But we can do small things with great love if we want.
