The chances for the call.

The first call.

Each and every people has the reason why God calls him example is just like that of Jonah.(jonah 1:1-2); Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittai saying, arise, go Nineveh the great city and cry against it for their wickedness is come up before me.

The second call.

After every first God still give us a chance when we don't take heed to it then he gives us a second call . (Jonah 3:1-2); and the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time saying, arise,go unto Nineveh that great City and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. Jonah is an example of some one who had a second chance to hear and obey some times we have got only one chance.

The God of a second chance.

Perhaps God has always wanted you to work in a church that was why he created you. Perhaps you have been running away from God's call. But he is speaking to you again. God spoke to Jonah twice. He is a Lord of second chance.

God doesn't change his mind with the passage of time. Even after you have experienced the pain of storms and whales' bellies, he can still use you. Ten years may have passed since God first called you. It is not too late to obey him. I am glad that I serve the Lord that gives second chance.

Fishers of men.

Accepting the call of God is accepting to be made into something that you are not. Jesus offered to make Peter into what he was not -a fisher of men.

Coming into the ministry is not about making some great contribution to the kingdom of God. Nothing depends on you and nothing would destroyed by your neglected ministry. We are all expendable and dispensable. " But we can do nothing against the truth but for the truth "(2corinthians 13:8). This scripture teaches us that there is nothing we can do that would go against the truth of God's word.

In full time ministry you will be transformed by the renewing of your mind and by the numerous humbling experience that await you. Full time ministry is actually the beginning of the journey that brings you closer to God. It changes you and make you a humble person. The very nature of this despised work and the interaction with other Christian in ministry will surely break you down and make you a better person. Also, the interaction with outsiders who don't understand what full time ministry is about will also drive you deeper into God.

Misconception about full time ministry.

Being in full time ministry makes you a fisher of men. Being paid by the ministry does not necessarily make you a full time minister. Switching your source of salary from bank to church doesn't mean that you are in a full time ministry. It is a lifetime commitment, it will swallow your whole being and will be transformed by the power of God.

Full time ministry is not any of these.

  • Full time ministry is not a convenient job option.

  • full time ministry is not easier job option.

  • Full time ministry is not a retirement plan for elderly.

  • It is not an arrangement for redeployed workers.

  • Full time ministry is not a refuge for lazy human beings.

Some people want to use full time ministry to ensure a regular salary whilist they do their business on the side. Business is business and ministry is ministry.the fact that you are an accountant in the bank doesn't mean you can be an accountant in the church.

Delusion about full time ministry.

There are common current state delusions that plague people in different circumstances. People in full time ministry are not spared their share of delusions. Some of the delusions that afflict a full time minister are:

  • Because I am full time minister I am special.

  • Because I am in a full time ministry i will have good salary.

Conclusion.

God has called you for a reason into full time ministry but you must misuse the fact.
