Old cans and bottles are valuable raw materials for recycling. For metal aluminum used to drinks cans, this recycling proportion is a high as nine-tenths in some countries. This saves four fifths of the energy used to make aluminium. It also saves tropical forests since much of the rocks used to make cans from tropical regions.
Glass is another substance made using huge amounts of energy. Recycling glass saves more than one quarter of this energy.
