To get started on washing your dog. You need to get the materials you needed: brush, shampoo, soap, towel, and blow-dryer.
First, you need to brush your dog before a bath. Matted hair holds water, leaving your dog with irritated skin. You may want to put a cotton ball in each ear to keep water out. It helps prevent ear infections and irritation. And also, you should use lukewarm water. Dog skin is different from ours, and hot water can burn dogs more easily.
Second, you should talk to your pet in a calm and encouraging voice. Some dogs will eventually learn that you’re not hurting or torturing them. Then, you should use dog shampoo not human shampoo. It dries their skin less than human shampoo. Work the shampoo into a gentle lather and massage it all over your dog’s body, being careful not to get soap in their eyes.
Lastly, rinse well your dog. Any soap left in their fur can irritate your dog’s skin once they’re dry. Furthermore, use blow-dryer that designed for dogs and never use blow-dryer for human because it can be too hot for their skin. After that, reward your dog. Follow up with plentiful praise, patting, or play. Many a damp dog loves to escape their frustration over bath time by playing energetic tug-of-war with the bath towel or just running away with it when it’s all over.
Most dogs would rather skip bath time, but bathing plays an important role in the health of your dog’s coat and skin, helping to keep your dog clean and free of dirt and parasites. So, you should love them as how much they love you.
