One of the inventions was Aratiles. This invention is a kind of fruit that we can find in the backyard. I remember when I was a child, I used to climb an aratiles tree and pick some fruits. Even when I am at school, I always grab aratiles whenever we have a vacant. It also given to us by our teacher as a prize whenever we win activities. This is my favorite fruit back then because it is totally free and you just need to ask the owner that you will get some fruits. However, I was amazed because I thought this is just a normal fruit and it is sweet. I did not know that it can also prevent diabetes and good for the diabetic related person. We have Filipino inventors who are great in making useful invention that we can use in the future. Creating this thing can help the society and economy grow.
Aratiles was discovered by a regular student from Iloilo National High School named Maria Isabel Layson which she believed that this fruit has a potential anti-diabetic component and to regulate diabetic’s sugar level. According to the result of her research, besides of having a potential anti-diabetic property, it is also showed that it has anti-oxidant that could help lessen the oxidative stress and inflammation. It has also bioactive compounds like flavonoid, polyphenol, and anthocyanin. As a student, this research is a big help for everyone to prevent diabetes and regulate their sugar levels. It also helpful for those people who has a diabetes because they no longer need to buy expensive medicine just to cure it. They can take this fruit on their backyard and plant it. As far as I know, the medication for the diabetes are much more expensive because you need to monitor and take it every day or what the doctor prescribed in order to regulate one’s sugar level. Based on my auntie, who is diabetic, she needs to take insulin, this is given by injection, which is expensive because the bottle of it, cost almost Php 2,000 and the bottle is too small. Furthermore, if she will not take the insulin because there is no money to buy one for her medication, her body will become weak. So, this invention is helpful especially for those people who doesn’t have enough money to buy medicine. Apart from curing diabetes, there is a lot of benefits of this fruit because it contains a lot of flavonoids which can help our brain to function properly and for the development. It is also helpful for those people who are suffering cognitive impairment. Moreover, it can reduce blood pressure which is very essential in life. Aratiles has nitric oxide, a natural chemical which can relax the blood vessels so that our blood can flow more smoothly in our body.
Aratiles is useful invention which can help a lot of people not just to those people who has diabetes. Also, there’s a lot of benefit that can cure illness. It is very helpful for those people who can’t buy their medicine because of lack of money. Therefore, aratiles is preventive for diabetes and other illnesses.
