¡When the electricity went out 5 days in a row in my country!
I am going to tell you everything that happened in those 5 days that there was no electricity in the whole country, mainly telling you where I am
I live in Venezuela and although that was 4 years ago I remember them perfectly even to date, that was March 7, 2019, yes, the day of the tragedy.
Everything was normal when on the afternoon of that March 7 at about 6 in the afternoon the electricity went out, well in my country it is normal for the electricity to go out for 4 or 5 hours every day, although it sounds crazy, yes, here It is normal due to problems with the machines that produce electricity, in fact I am telling you this two hours after the light arrived.
It all started that day in the afternoon, I remember that the electricity went out and my phone was dead, I was anxious for the 4 or 5 hours to pass so I could recharge it, my mom calls and I go to the kitchen to eat, my whole family has dinner and we sat down to talk waiting for the electricity to arrive, at nightfall everyone tried to go to sleep because there was still no electricity, that night passed and when we woke up everything was still the same, no electricity, my mom made breakfast with a cylinder since the kitchen was electric and did not turn on, after that at noon my family gets together and we start playing, dominoes, cards and ludo waiting for the arrival of electricity, the afternoon arrives and still nothing and we all already started to wondering and worrying, I remember that they sent me to the store to buy some food and everything was closed, I was very surprised, at that moment I felt fear, very strange I came home and told my mom that I did not find any open store, that because of the electricity they were all closed, when my mom says ok but go to a small store where they accept cash, (it happens that here the stores are managed with points of sale, cards) and then I go out again and buy in a small store from a man named Ramón, very kind that day by the way, I buy and ask him, -Hey sir, you don't know anything about electricity, to that Mr. Ramón answers me, no, son, they tell me that it is difficult for him to arrive because he got damaged one of the machines, I was worried, I went back home and told my mom that it would be very difficult for electricity to arrive, my dad came saying that he doesn't have a job because at work everything runs on electricity and they are unemployed, I start to fear this terrible situation.
Night falls on that second day and my whole family is still together and we all sleep outside in hammocks (hammocks) and on mattresses on the floor, because it was very hot inside, on the third day we all get up and realize a new problem that we did not expect, The water. There was no cold water because it had never been turned off for 3 days, we began to drink hot water (I attach that I do not like hot water and it really exasperates me) due to this problem some people who still had ice increased their sales to an extremely high price to take advantage of the situation, they sold a block of ice for $5, that third day in the afternoon I am going to play soccer with some friends to distract myself for a while when I arrived at night my mom was cooking, when I arrived what I did was look for water because I was tired and if friends I had to drink hot that was worse, I took a bath and then we fell asleep, the next day it was number 4.
That was the day of the disaster, the desperate people, some because they had no food, people who work day by day to get a livelihood could not do it because of the problem, then the so-called looting arose (A looting is going to a store or company in a group of people and steal everything they have to eat) Regardless of the police or anything, people start going out to the companies to steal everything and I remember that near my house there is a cereal and pepitos company, and all the Out of necessity, people knocked down the store's gate and after they made it take out boxes and boxes of cereals regardless of whether there were security guards or policemen, the police couldn't do anything anyway.
That day was completely horrible but the worst night, once night fell and people continued stealing, shots were heard everywhere, it was because a malicious person instead of stealing food was stealing televisions, air conditioners and other electrical devices that they had The warehouses or stores where they entered then the police classified them as gangs and thieves and them if they tried to kill.
I remember that inside the stores the policemen would throw tear gas canisters to leave people gasping for air and irritate their eyes and everything was a disaster, people who came to rob an ice company, and people passed by in cars and on the roofs had bags of ice, cereals, packages of milk, of everything that people could loot
that horrible night passes and on the fifth day we are all still without electricity and people were planning to loot again in groups, when that day at noon, hope comes, electricity, my mom and I ran out to turn on the fridge and put water to drink it cold, I also remember that many people with stores damaged their chicken, meat, and greengrocers vegetables and fruits why not They were sold, I remember that many business owners gave things away before groups of people got in and destroyed the place, in short, a horrible situation that I don't want to live in my life anymore, and neither does it happen to you.
I do not attach photos of the moment because as I told you, my phone on the first day no longer had a battery
That's the problem when we don't have electricity. Same here when there's a blackout for how many days. The meats and frozen goods to our fridge was distroyed. Sigh, if we are just living where raining of snows and so cold. It will be not a problem anymore.
