The mood at work is pretty bad. Everyone is stressed out and scared of being fired. Currently about 200 colleagues got laid off and if things won't turn better many more will follow. 🤕 The management is looking at every single employee if he/she is actually needed for keeping the company running. 😬👀 This year will be a tough one.

Competition nowadays is so scary, and I hope you won't get fired. What about looking for another company? Are you a freelancer?
I'm not a freelancer, I'm officially hired. Because of that if I get fired the government will pay me my salary for a few months... I somehow hope that I would be able to find another job during that time... But idk... 😔

No, I'm working for a normal company. But after losing your job the government jumps in and keeps paying you 60% of your salary for 6 - 24 months depending on your age and for how long you have worked... Hm... I haven't really thought about freelancing yet... 🤔
You mean the government will still continue paying you even if you lose the job as long as you had serve the company for years?
Yes. Actually after 1 year of working you "unlock" this social security "benefit". But they will only pay you your salary for 6 month then. They pay it for 12 months if you have worked 2 years. After that you will only get 500€ a month and the government will pay your rent until you find a new job. (Some people decide not to work at all and just live on that, which is a huge problem in my opinion) Maybe this sounds nice to you, but to finance this taxes in Germany are super high. I'm a low income earner and 40% of my salary automatically goes to tax, health insurance and social insurance. 😣
Seriously? The government will continue paying you monthly with a rent allowance? Damn, here in Philippines taxes are high too considering that majority of the population are not even minimum wage earner, exploited. Not to mention that the government doesn't care at all even if you will die from working. Not even to the elderlies. Not all can receive pension, espescially those neglected oldies who have no family anymore. Work here is like working for death and still not living a life.
Yes, they will. But only until you have a job again. I see... This must be a tough live for many... I have heared that there is a lot of corruption and manipulation in the Philippines... I was watching a documentation where the son of a former dictator who was secretly stealing billions of tax money used social media and fake news to become the president.
That's the truth. Corruption never ends in Philippines. If you don't know how to live a life and how to make money in a proper way and you start building family even not financially ready yet, poverty will never cease to exist. The only good thing in the Philippines particularly in provinces and suburbs is the peaceful neighborhood and sea. The life here is simple yet beautiful because there no too much pressure compared to cities. Well, I lived in a suburban one where the place is not polluted yet. The environment is quite healthy and the neighborhood houses are not crowded. It's an ideal place for me. If you earn enough, you can live a good life in Philippines.

How much exactly enough depends on your lifestyle. From where I lived, it's not a city nor a secluded province. I call it a countryside and the cost of living there is not expensive compared living to cities. I cannot provide the best estimation but it's not expensive to live there plus you can travel to neighboring beautiful places in an affordable tight budget! Let us say you are still single and living with your family. I would say $400 a month is enough for a simple living especially when you own your house there and you're still single living with your family. If you are wise in budgeting and you know where to find the best deals and alternatives, you can save a lot of money from that $400 a month knowing that you are financially literate. You can save for future trips. I really love the place I'm living right now, as much as I don't want to say this but cities in Philippines are populated with squatter houses and the crime there are rampant. Luckily, in my place it's a safer community compared to city.
I see! That's interesting! I actually though quite some times about living in the Philippines. Since I'm a software developer I could work remote from any place in the world. And the Philippines is rather cheap, beautiful and you can quickly fly to countries like Japan or South Korea...
You won't regret living in Philippines, in my own opinion. Many foreigners are living in our neighbouring Asian countries like Thailand and Vietnam where the cost of living is not expensive. I think the advantages of living in Philippines is that most of the people can speak and understand English.

Racism? No, Filipinos admire white people! We call westerner as "afam" and we like to joke all the time about marrying an afam lol. That's funny but you get praised here. There are also many filipinas who are looking like Chinese or Korean here because of their ancestry, so it's also like you're visiting japan or korea.

That's funny. I tried to search for the words "afam walking ATM" and I guess it refers to filipinas who are only into money. It's sad but not everyone is like that. There are professionals and rich Filipinas as well who have married foreigners not because of money but because they found their lifetime partner. It's just that the majority are only into "money," this is so sad. I hope your perception of us won't turn negative. 😞
Hm. I see... That's a bit scary I think... Especially someone like me would be so abusable... 😵 But I guess I don't have to worry. I'm not rich so I don't have to be worried about these things. 😂😅
