I've been posting articles about anime lately but didn't introduced what anime really is. In this article I am going to introduce anime to all of you and tell how it is different from cartoons.
People are still arguing whether anime and cartoon are the same or not. They insist that anything drawn are considered as cartoon. When you look at the dictionary, it is stated that
Anime
"Style of Japanese film and television animation, typically aimed at adults as well as children." -Oxford Dictionary
Actually it is correct. Anime is a Japanese style motion picture. But it doesn't mean that it is the same as cartoons. There are many factors that differentiate anime to cartoons. And here is the example;
Anime is Anatomically Correct to Humans.
Every west cartoon show is exaggerated and anatomically wrong to humans. Even though anime have different genre, it still follow human anatomy correctly or atleast.
It Follows a Certain Storyline
Most of the anime follow its own storyline. Mostly came from manga. Although there are some cartoon that has its own storyline, most of them have not. It makes anime unique and exciting.
Its Target Audience is mostly Adults
This one should have ended the debate. According to other people's perspective, anything drawn is considered as cartoons and are meant for children. However you should consider anime because most of it's content includes violence and sexuality. Although there are still anime that are meant for children, we just can't ignore the fact that most of them are not made for them.
