Origin
This is the original Padoru and its real character name is Nero Claudius a.k.a Red Saber from the game Fate/Extra. On December 11, 2011 this character is released in the game singing the Japanese parody song of "Jingle Bells", where Claudius yells the iconic "padoru padoru" at the end of the song.
But the icon didn't get famous until the year 2016 when some YouTubers uploaded a loop scene of this character and get thousands of view.
And in 2018 the meme gets famous in social media when people started to use the icons for their profile picture as a sign that Christmas season is coming. The icon nowadays comes with different designs and characters but still the resemblance is not that far from the original. Since then the Padoru becomes a traditional Christmas Icon for weebs/anime fans.
