My most anticipated anime series of 2021 are already here. And I'm going to give my review and reaction for their first episode.
The first episode of these gave me so much feelings. There are some that live in my expectations and there are some that really disappoint me. In this article I will going to give my honest comments and opinions about these anime. Be in mind that I judge the anime itself not as adaptation from manga or novel (since I haven't read it yet) so you might not agree with me. And I'm just reviewing their first episode so it will didn't really affect my views about the whole series. My opinion might change later as the anime progress. You can also share your thought at the comment section and lets talk it out. Well then lets start.
SK∞ (Skate Infinity)
I will start with this anime. The first episode is unexpectedly impressive. Not gonna lie, I thought it would be like Yuri on Ice but I guess im wrong( at least for now). The animation for this one is above average and something you need to check in this anime. And that race at the last part just caught my attention. The background music, SFX and the opening/ending song are really good and improve the mood of every scene. I don't know why people are not talking about this anime, but for me it has the potential to be the best sport anime this year. For this episode I'll rate it 10/10.
Keep this pace and your spot for Sport Anime of the Season will be secured. And seriously this anime needs more recognition.
Horimiya
I saw that people are hyped for this one. Well its true, the animation is good and the character of Hori-san is perfect(shes beautiful). But for the first episode I think its generic. The story is somewhat predictable but still good. What I'm trying to say is, this episode is pretty average. I can't see yet where's the hype coming from. Let's just wait for more episode. I have a feeling that it might be the one of the best romance anime for this year. For now I'll give it a 9/10.
A little bit disappointed for the first episode or maybe I expect too much because of the hype in social media. Anyways it's still good. I can't wait for the next episode.
Project Scard: Praeter no Kizu
Good animation, good character design and hype fighting scenes. I was hoping really much for this series but I'm just a bit disappointed to its first episode. Did Eiji made the right decision? For me its a big no, it was a stupid idea. For the stupid plot you need to make that stupid decision?(If you've watched this episode you'll know what I mean.) I'm just frustrated because I saw big potential for this anime especially the first half of this episode. But the last part shattered my expectations. Since I'm gonna apply my 3 episode rule for this one, I'll bare with it and see if there is an improvement. For now I'll give this episode a 7/10.
It has a potential but the first episode ruined everything. Still gonna watch and I hope that the story will improve.
Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?
I really commend the voice actress for this adorable spider. She's so cute and the voice suits the character really well. Other characters look promising too and I have huge expectations for them to make this anime more interesting. But lets talk about story and plot. For me its cliche (at least for now). Sorry for the fans but this episode just show how generic and getting more uninteresting the Isekai Genre is. Don't worry I'll still hold into my 3 episode rule and besides I want to see that cute spider too. So this is just 8/10 for now.
As expected this show will be an average Isekai. I just hope that my impression change for the next episode.
I really hope that this story will keep improving. There are so much anime that officially started this week and I can't watch all of them at once. Busy days will start again and I have few series in my watchlist that needs to get started too. When this season ends I will make a final review for this too and see if it really improves or fall into my anime dropped list.
Horimiya Manga is amazing. I'm sure all those who hype the anime are Manga fans. It doesn't have an overarching story or goal, just a bunch of high-school student with amazing chemistry between each other. If you keep watching I'm sure you'll find at least one character you relate to.
I'm also interested in watching "Kumo Desu Ga" but I have many things I need to do and anime I want to binge first.
