The first episode of Attack on Titan Final Season was released last night and it really broke the internet. Within the first hour of its release even the top paid streaming site for anime, Crunchyroll has been downed due to system overload. Some even reported that even illegal sites has encountered the same issue.

Why it become so popular all of the sudden?

The first reason for this is, the series is in its final season. People want to watch the show to know the final outcome of the story. Attack on Titan anime has been popular for the last few years because of its unique plot and good storyline. Thats why it is expected that the final season will be this popular.

One factor that affect its popularity is giving the hype in social media. Most country is in lockdown because of pandemic thats why people spend most of their time in social media. Thats why it gains popularity to both anime watchers and non-watchers.

Overview of the First Episode

The first episode took place in Marley 8 years later after their failed mission to retrieve the Founding Titan in Eldia. Currently they are at 4 years war against the Mid-East Allied Forces take back Fort Slava.

My Reaction for the First Episode

As a person who already read its manga, I didn't expect that the first episode will give me this goosebumps. Nothing beats seeing your favorite manga brought to life by animation. You'll never get disappointed by this anime because like its previous season, they adapted the manga very well. And heres my thoughts about this episode.

Animation

One issue that stirred the expectation of the fans during the release of its trailer is the change of animation studio. They are worried that MAPPA's animation will be different from WIT Studio. But actually I don't really mind. As I said from my previous article about Attack on Titan, MAPPA Studio is really not a bad animation studio at all. In fact it is one of the best out there, especially when it comes to character design and fighting scenes.

In the first episode, you can really see what MAPPA is capable of. They really did well at fighting scenes. The animation and designs of the titans is actually the same as the first 3 seasons. The animation of new characters, Gabi and Falco is good. Adult Reiner and Jean were also featured and their looks really suit them. The mood greatly improve from their teen to adult. The vibes and mood of its animation goes really well with the story as it gets serious and much darker.

Opening and Ending Songs

Most of the people skip opening and ending songs, but for me it really depends on the songs itself. If it goods I listen and if not I skip. But for this episode I really like it. I don't know if it is the official OP and ED songs for this season but let's just hope so.

Sound Effects

SFX is really important for an anime. It gets you to the mood and feel the emotion of the show. Although for this episode, it is not as good compared to some anime that I watched that really excell in sound effects. But it is worth mentioning though. Let's just hope that it will improve to the next episodes.

Voice Casting

This one is pretty normal. I think they lacked a little bit of emotions. Maybe because the first episode only contains a few dialogues. But its not that bad though, Its just I am looking for something in their voice casting. Overall its good.

Overall Reaction

Its a good episode to start from a good series. Its a good thing that they didn't go all out in this episode. Its better that way because it's necessary to build suspense for the next episodes. There are few things that I am hoping for improvements, but who knows its just the first episode. Let's just sit back for a while and wait for the next episode to come.
