Africa, land of the wild,

Divergent yet a contained force,

All in you finds a home,

One mother, many children,

Black has its home in you,

White has made you its home,

For Africa says this to all,

Am a mother, no segregation,

From hand to hand tossed around,

A mother's heart bleeds afresh,

Gather my children unto me,

Africa calls out to her own.

To distant lands on great oceans,

Africa's treasures sails unstopped,

Yet the true African spirit shines,

Anywhere it's foot has stayed.

Troubled countries, troubled leaders,

Great Continent, mother of all,

My great African womb,

Stained with both saints and sinners.

Untold stories of hardships,

Hunger so deep eyes are popping,

Children eaten alive by poverty,

Parents long dead and lucky.

Promise of help lightens the soul,

Shoulders waiting to unburden,

No desire for luxury unknown,

Just a little sip of water to quench my thirst

And I live for another day.
