The United Nations Women, or UN Women, released a report in November 2019. The headline of the report is '18 Ways to Stand Up Against Rape'. There are several hypotheses at the beginning of the report. Of course, there is not much novelty or depth in them. The old motto of human instinct, the old statement has been blamed for it. For example, the public opinion is like this: ‘Boys are boys’ (Batagiri, must show masculinity). ‘Rape was intoxicating’ (a touch of Western society). Saying ‘no’ to a woman is actually saying ‘yes’ (i.e. men don’t think women need permission when it comes to sexual intercourse). Easy to understand, the report seeks to shed light on one aspect of reality around the world. First, masculinity is really the problem. The gist of the second conclusion is that men blame women. In conservative countries, as in the case of 'dress was not right', it is seen as big much like that. The third means that women are also raped in legitimate relationships (such as marriage, love). This statement has recently started gaining attention in Bangladesh as well.

Before mentioning the 16 methods of consultation of the UN Women's Organization, it is necessary to shed some light on the reaction on social media. Social media is very helpful to understand the public reaction at this time. Newspapers also now print reader opinions under the news. They also need to be monitored. I have seen thousands of comments after the gang rape of MC College dormitory and robbery and rape in Khagrachari. Except for one or two of them, every comment has expressed intense hatred towards the rapists. Even a few days ago, those who wanted the crossfire to be extinguished after Sinha's assassination are demanding the death of the rapists in the crossfire. Numerous commentators are also making unjust demands. For example, execution should be carried out in the streets, in public, in public. The main point is that the rapists should be given exemplary punishment.

Asking for crossfire or execution in public is not really asking for it. They are merely metaphorical expressions of extreme anger and hatred. Among the thousands of comments, there were a few that blamed pornography, but never found the word "fault of dress or manners." Like 99 percent, Ghurefire blamed only a few factors. Number one is to blame the ‘politics of power’. Like most: The great benefit of engaging in the politics of power is 'impunity' or impunity. The result is the absence of justice, corruption, the subjugation of the political power of the police and law enforcement, and so on.

It is worth noting that one of the 16 recommendations of the UN Women's Organization was also important to stand against 'impunity'. It has been said, ‘end impunity’ or ‘end of impunity’.

We have all been acquainted with this idea of the party workers in the government in various ways. We have seen that in the ages, some of the pro-government students have become thugs, rapists and robbers instead of students. Why is that? There is an opportunity for impunity. Is due to muscle tension. Muscle does not mean just the strength of the body. ‘Muscle’ means emphasis on power. The party is in power, resulting in the belief that ‘whatever you want can be achieved’. Senior leaders, who use students for their own self-interest, emphasize their ambiguity and alcoholism. Law enforcement agencies remain silent.

There is no denying that rape is going to be a pervasive crime in Bangladesh. According to the latest figures from the human rights organization Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK), an average of 111 women have been raped every month this year. From January to August, 69 women were raped. 41 people have died due to rape. In 2016, 618 women were raped, in 2016, 632 people and in 2019, 1,413 women were raped. Six people were killed after being raped in 2019. 10 women were forced to commit suicide.

Despite these facts, most of the commentators are of the opinion that the involvement of students in crimes like rape and gang rape means that the last light of hope is also extinguished. Then there is no chance of feeling or optimism other than frustration and fear. Where the students will stand against rape, on the contrary, whether they are involved in rape!

Why would those students get raped?

Because, they get the opportunity to use politics-identity as a weapon of crime and a shield to prevent punishment. They know that the police, the law, the judiciary, etc., all kneel before their powers. They know that these institutions can be read with the eyes of power. So they do not miss the opportunity to be involved in various crimes effortlessly. There are more reasons to show recklessness and ‘muscle power’. There is no benefit in lengthening the list. If we go to write about the rape of the student organizations of the ruling parties, a few books will be written. Most rapes go unreported. Rape victims usually do not report the incident out.

Probably the Information Minister of that time was not ashamed or ashamed. What if he could have called the student's father to the university campus and made a compromise? Didn't the 'second torture' of that student happen there? The student never returned to campus. We had to sigh when we saw the picture of the student's father leaving the campus crying. But those students just finished campus proudly with degrees.

The aftermath is even more horrific. In 1996, Jasim Uddin Manik, general secretary of Jahangirnagar University's Chhatra League, declared a century of rape. In that incident, educational institutions across the country also became agitated in protest. In 2000, on the Thirtieth Night, a group of student leaders of the ruling party assaulted a student at the TSC of Dhaka University. The students are also punished for their crimes. The participation of students in the Thirtyfirst Night was banned. In 2016, a BCL leader of Mirpur Government Bangla College revealed the incident of being raped by the president of her organization.

A few days ago I posted a post about rape on Facebook. Someone told me, simply said, is it possible to solve this problem at all, how is it possible? I replied, one. Do not remove or allow the rapist to wear or wear the political dress of the body. That will reduce the number of rapes by 90 percent. Two. Impunity should stop thinking like, ‘I will be out of reach, I have a connection with the powers that be’. 5 more rapes will stop. Three. Make sure that the women who have taken place in the politics of power do not remain silent in the misdeeds of these two classes by taking advantage of politics, 4 more rapes will be stopped. Four. The rest of the rapists, let's say, are habitual rapists or habitual sex offenders, they will be caught with the crime. Even infected women can overwhelm them. That will be possible only if they develop confidence that the people of the country are no longer afraid of the thugs who use politics.

There is no alternative to standing up against any impunity for rapists who use politics as a shield.
