Nothing happens to us by chance or without any prior notice - mostly when it has to do with health related issues. We most times get taken unawares by the things that happen to us because we fail to listen and observe the situation of things happening within and around us.
Before anything significant happens to us, most of the time there's always a sign that precedes such event; but because we are too busy and enmeshed in our daily activities and challenges, we hardly pay attention to the signs. Let me give one very simple illustration using the human body.
The human body is so unique in such a way that nothing goes into it or comes out of it without it noting the presense or absense of such thing. I've heard stories and seen countless cases of people breaking down suddenly and losing their health and I wonder if those people have been paying attention to their bodies.
The body speaks and gives signals of everything going on in it. If the body is okay, it'll let you know and if something is going wrong, it will also let you know the moment such thing starts going wrong. But most of us are not listening to the signals our bodies are sending out to us. This is why so many of us are breaking down suddenly when we least expect.
Stress is eating so many people up and they don't yet know it because they are not listening to their body and observing the changes taking place in them. The simplest cure for stress is rest, but how can you know you truly need rest when you don't listen to your body?
Some people are so used to the workaholic lifestyle that the only time they truly take a rest is when their health challenge have gotten critical and they are compelled to have a bedrest in a medical facility. This situation could have been avoided easily if they had listened to their body and given it the rest it demanded when it wanted it. Now they'll have to pay for the rest that they could have taken in the comfort of their home at no cost and also risk possible health challenges.
So many people think they're strong and healthy but they don't know their body is breaking down gradually because of their constant neglect of their body's signals. Look, if you don't listen and observe the happenings going on within you and around you, you are placing yourself and your life at risk.
By paying simple attention to what's going on in us and around us we can easily avert some of the problems that are taking us unawares and making our lives challenging. Don't wait for the situation to be out of hand before you would want to start addressing it. If you can listen carefully and observe the little changes already taking place you would quickly identify what's going on and address it before it escalates.
So listen and observe to avoid being taken unawares by the challenges of life!
