A lot of people often ask us "Why don't we limit number of (articles/comments/posts) per user per (day/hour/week)? 3/5/10 should be enough!" Frankly I've replied to this too many times, so posting it as a post. 1) You can register a new account in 1 minute. A rebuttal to that usually is that "You need to check IP addresses" or "You need to fingerprint the user's computer": You can get thousands of new IP addresses with $3/m VPN account or less. They provide thousands of clean IP addresses. Even if that is solved a rebuttal to fingerprinting is that you can have a [phone farm](https://www.appsflyer.com/mobile-fraud-glossary/phone-farms/). Basically buy a dozen of cheap phones - you have a dozen of provably different users. There is no way for us to prove that any two users are different people, not one, so any limits per day per user make no sense - you just register two-three-five-hundred new accounts. The only solution that might work is to ask for everybody to upload their passports, but even with that a person will upload passports of a whole village (paying them a few cents) to prove that he is a whole village. So, these limits make no sense except to stop our servers from accepting thousands of submissions per second.

Forgot to mention: CAPTCHAs and SMS verification (cc @arslankhalid). I can show you a site where it costs $0.01 to get an SMS and another site where you can pay $0.01 for any CAPTCHA (including Google's ReCaptcha) will be solved for you. They even have nice APIs so that you can have your robots use it :)

Here is the problem. This will NOT stop a spammer who thinks he can get more than $0.01 of it. The spammer KNOWS where to buy this. But it will be annoying to EVERYONE else, except that it will not do anything to spammer. What you ask us to do will make it bad for EVERYONE and nothing for spammers.

Yeah, we're against it too. Bitcoin Cash works because of proof-of-work. That's what we should exploit too - proof-of-work - if you can prove you've done some work (wrote and article, a comment, something else) - it should be rewarded. If you did nothing - it shouldn't :) That's what really prevent duplicate identities in BCH and should in read.cash :)

Off topic, we'll I actually don't know how to contact you, but, may I just ask, Re the point system. Well, I've been experiencing this all day, I was first stuck at 1.2pts even when my articles were accepted in different communities, now, got 3 notifications, 3 hours ago that my articles got accepted again in 3 different communities, unfortunately I'm stuck at 22.6pts. @read.cash I hope somebody answers me here. Thanks!

Being accepted to 3 different communities doesn't mean 20 points each community. You only get credited on the first community.

I strongly support the last option. It will really work and stop most of those low quality articles inflowing into the server per second. Thanks @ read.cash.
Well, i quite understand your explanation and how difficult it could be to place a limit to articles published by one user daily, since you have said the only available option is to short down servers from accepting certain number of submission per second, let stick to that. Hopefully this will reduce uninformative articles from the system
But right now it seems there is already an upvote limit from random rewarder. It does not upvote the second article posted on the same day. Do you post updated on reddit? Should I read the latest ones there? Are there any new updates to read on there?
