A couple weeks ago, I got this email inviting me to be a beta tester of a new app from the Coinbase Android team as I guess I met their criteria of being a frequent user of their current app.
"You’re receiving this email because we’ve identified you as one of our most active users. Our teams have created a brand new Android app from scratch, and we would love to give you early access to get your feedback on it and help shape the future of Coinbase products!"
Regarding their current app, I had been using it almost daily, mainly buying a small amount of BTC and ETH here and there. This was my second crack at buying crypto; the first time was through a BTC ATM. (Even though I bought bitcoin relatively early, all I did was hodl it until recently so I can't say I have much experience with crypto.)
Initially, I wondered if it was a fake email but after doing some due diligence, I decided to join the beta testing. My experience of using their current android app had been good despite some tentativeness on my part. But now with the new app, I had the chance to really put it through its paces. To start the testing, I had to download the new app and uninstall the old one.
Actually, I had no problems with the new app. It was operating smoothly for me. The speed was noticeable. Every week, there was a short survey to fill out, asking for comments about its speed and to report any problems. So far, there have been none.
A few days after I signed up. the Uniswap token was available on the platform so I bought it within the first few hours of its debut on Coinbase, unlike the the earlier users who got a free airdrop. Actually, I also bought some LINK with the new app. Again, there were no hiccups..
Of all the exchanges that I have signed up for, Coinbase has given me the least trouble. unlike the problems I had registering for Binance and Crypto.com. I had lots of trouble with Binance, especially in verifying my ID. My face did not seem to fit their template and I could never get things done. Of course, it could be the lighting or the lack of it.
The Beta Tester program lasted three weeks, which just ended a couple of days ago. All I had to do was fill out a quick survey. The new app seemed more streamlined. I actually like it and have been using it since.
