Self-confidence is the ability and strategy we can use as an individual to deal with situations, difficulties and dissapointment. According to (Bandura,1986) Self-confidence is considered as one of the most influential motivator and regulator of behavior in people's everyday lives and the central mediating construct of achievement strivings.
So, What is self-confidence?
Self confidence is the feeling of trust in yourself, willing to take risk and go extra mile to complete tasks. It’s a decision, it is an opinion of yourself. Being sure of yourself.
TYPES OF SELF-CONFIDENCE
LOW SELF-CONFIDENCE: This involve behaving or acting based on what others think, you stay with what is safe with you to avoid failure. It is not being sure of who you are.
SIGNS OF LOW SELF- CONFIDENCE
1. Being afraid of risks.
2. Doubting your strengths.
3. Constant comparison with others.
4. Seeing yourself as inferior.
HOW TO OVERCOME LOW SELF- CONFIDENCE
1. SELF-ACCEPTANCE & SELF AWARENESS: this involve knowing your strengths and weaknesses. You should note that if you are not self-aware, you cannot work on your self confidence.
2. SELF-BELIEF: you need to believe in yourself.
3. SELF-IMAGE: How do you see yourself, improve your own image.
4. SELF-ESTEEM: Improve your self-esteem, charge yourself every day, have a mantra, speak positive things to yourself.
5. SELF-ANALYSIS: focus and build on your strengths, don’t focus on your weakness or what you don’t have.
OVER-CONFIDENCE: This has to do with having too much confidence in yourself, being egoestic, and arrogant.
SELF-CONFIDENCE: This involve striking the balance between the first two type of self confidence that is, not being too over confidence or having low confidence. This is the ideal type of confidence we should all have as an individual.
IMPORTANCE OF SELF- CONFIDENCE
Self-confidence makes you attractive. People will always want to relate with you, the energy of confident people always attracts people.
It will helps you aim things you only dream about. It makes you to be able to speak up and ask for things.
It helps you make the right decisions and the more you make the right decisions, the more you are aligned with your own values and goals.
