The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has licensed the cryptocurrency exchange OSL Digital Securities, a division of BC Group. Reported by Reuters.
Last November, OSL became the first company to announce plans to obtain a cryptocurrency license from the SFC. According to Reuters, no other company has yet announced a license from the Hong Kong financial regulator.
The SFC license will allow OSL to "provide digital asset trading services, including tokenized securities."
“So far, the traditional financial sector has watched this asset class with interest, but the lack of regulatory clarity has prevented them from participating in the market,” said Hugh Madden, CEO of BC Group. "Licensing solves this problem and enables us to attract large institutional investors to our platform."
According to the press release, OSL is the largest platform in Asia that provides institutional clients and professional investors with digital asset custody and trading services. Investment firm Fidelity invested $ 14 million in OSL in February.
This week the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) licensed the Archax tokenized securities exchange.
