Travels in the Himalayas::
In the summer of that year the Swami, Nivedita, and others left for Almora in the Himalayas. On the journey and during their stay there the Swami continued to instruct them.
On the way they passed through various places. Nivedita was delighted to see the city of Patna which had once been the capital of a great Hindu kingdom. The sight of the river-front at Banaras moved her a great deal. She said that she would never be able to forget it. The industrial city of Lucknow also impressed her. The Swami would point out to them every now and then the fields and farms. He would tell them of the hard life of the villagers and of their kindness to monks. When they journeyed across the Terai, she was reminded of the Buddha, for he was born in that very region. When they reached Almora Nivedita was was happy. The roses,ferns, primroses, violets, and giant rhododendrons and pines delighted her.
