The Neolithic Culture : Language, Arts and Religious Beliefs : Development of language, discovery of art and the beginning of religion are the chief marks of culture. What we mean by 'culture' today had just its beginning in the New Stone Ageure codes
a. Language : In the primitive stage man had no language. He used to communicate his ideas and feelings through signs. He used to make a kind of sound if he would get alarmed or delighted. Gradually, he developed the power of speech initially with the names of the animals. As days rolled on his vocabulary increased.
b. Arts : From the cave-paintings one can get some idea about man's love for arts as well as beliefs of the New Stone Age people. They used to draw pictures of trees, plants, animals and men. They also beautified the paintings by carving out designs on them. In thosè primitive days people were terribly afraid of spirits and witchcraft. They used to draw their own pictures in the darkest part of the caves lest any spirit should do- any harm to them. Most of the pictures were either of animal or of hunting. The pictures of men were very few. Such was the belief of the New Stone Age people
