• 1. Coming of the Copper-Bronze Age: With the onward march of progress of civilisation the primitive man discovered new things. It is not definitely known how man discovered metal. Probably in course of making stone-weapons he was surprised to see a kind of coloured stone. He found
that the said kind of stone could be hammered to any shape. Thus the metal, known as copper, was discovered.
As copper was too soft a metal its use was limited. But when it was mixed with tin to form bronze its usefulness widely increased. As copper and bronze were used between 3000 BC. and 1500 BC. this period is polularly known as the Copper-Bronze Age.
In the Copper-Bronze Age the skilled labourers like the smiths, miners, etc. emerged. The other features of this age were : growth of towns, division in the society, beginning of trade and commerce and emergence of an early form of state.
