Most of us wants to become a productive person. We wanted to finish different tasks everyday. But there was a time that we are not on mood, and the laziness won against productivity. And it can be the beginning of our nightmare, procrastination. Yes, we can consider it as a nightmare, because it can pull us down to lower our productivity everyday. And that was very dangerous. I wrote this article to help everyone in this platform to become more productive and to avoid procrastination.

Let's start!

How can we avoid procrastination?

Outline:

  • Be organized

  • Set some achievable goals

  • Time management

  • Set some deadlines

  • Set a timer

  • Take a rest

Be organized

We should start our day with an organized plan. We should know what works are need to be finished. Being organized can help us to prioritize things, and that was really helpful for us. We should also clean, prepare and organize our workspace. We have also ensure that there was no distractions outside like noisy backgrounds that can bother us in time of work. We have to create a comfortable workspace.

Set some achievable goals

When the day start, we should have a set of achievable goals. A goals that we can reach in a short time. Simply set some simple and achievable goals everyday, it was better. You can set your goals like this, "I will study the data types of c++ programming today." Instead of "I will study c++ programming today." Did you see the difference of two? We can set some achievable goals by making it specific.

Time management

Time management is one of the most important thing to avoid procrastination. Make a schedule about the things that we need to do, set time for a specific tasks. It is like scheduling studies like for example, "I will study discrete mathematics on Monday and on Tuesday, I will study differential calculus." or scheduling some programming activities like "I need to finish the programming task 1 within 1 hour, and 1 hour again for the programming task 2". Breaking down our tasks into small pieces can help us to manage our time.

Set some deadlines

Setting a deadline is really helpful from avoiding procrastination. Most of us wants to put off some of our task, especially when the laziness came. "I will do that later." or "I will do my homework tomorrow because there's a lot of time for that.". At the end of the day, you won't finish everything, you can't accomplished anything. And that was a really bad habit, so we should set some deadlines or a specific time or date for the specific tasks that we need to finish. Or maybe we should finish those tasks one or two days before the deadline. That was better and that was a good sign of being productive.

Set a timer

Maybe some of us experienced being burnt out, and that was really annoying. I already read from some posts from social media, comment from this platform and even videos on YouTube that we can use the Pomodoro Technique.

What is Pomodoro Technique?

According to this website, The Pomodoro Technique is a time management system that encourages people to work with the time they have—rather than against it. Using this method, you break your workday into 25-minute chunks separated by five-minute breaks. These intervals are referred to as pomodoros. After about four pomodoros, you take a longer break of about 15 to 20 minutes.

Take a rest

We are human being, sometimes we felt tiredness. We need to take a rest, to take a break. Just sit down and relax, or maybe take a walk, lay down and listen to some relaxing music. We need to recover, to maintain the healthiness of our minds.

We should avoid procrastination to make our day more productive, don't let laziness won against our productivity!
